Title: Now here's a possible start.
Post by: Busted Knuckle on August 17, 2011, 09:47:34 AM
OK first off let it be said that I have no connection to the bus or seller in any way at all!
That said please note that due to what I know of the seller let it be said I say *BUYER BEWARE* and have it checked out thoroughly by a knowledgeable and totally independent of the seller mechanic.
By that I mean find your own person to do the inspection and do not just accept his recommendation of one.

Now that said this bus does show a lot of potential as a starter shell!

I would be a little careful on this one.  This is being sold by Easter Bus Sales.  I'm not saying don't buy from them, but be careful.

If it needs a new State of Virginia inspection do NOT let them do the inspection.  Insist the bus be taken to an inspection station of your choice.  A used vehicle dealer who can do their own safety inspections is a conflict of interest.  My bus would have never passed a State of Viriginia inspection done by an independent third party.

Thank you Brian for verifing what I was trying to point out!

Now that my friends is the honest truth from just one of the people I know who have bought from them and share the same feelings. (I do have to admit I also know of ONE & ONLY ONE person that was happy with the Prevost he purchased from them!)

The reality is I should have taken my bus straight from Easter Bus Sales to the nearest State Patrol to have a little chat about the safety "inspection" Easter Bus Sales had done.  The only inspection they did was of the spot to slap the inspection sticker on.  Not a lot of states have safety inspections and I don't know that anybody should depend on one to help determine if they should buy a bus or not.

I don't hold myself blameless in all this.  Easter's was nice enough to have someone drive the bus up to Roanoake to have the Detroit dealer there check things out.  I had made previous arrangements to have the bus checked, but the Detroit dealer couldn't get the bus in for a number of hours and the driver had to get back.  I should have told them when I picked up the bus that I needed to take it for an independent inspection before I handed over the check.  The check would have been a fair bit smaller had I realized up front how bad things really were.  If they wouldn't have agreed to take less I could have found some way home even if I had to take a Greyhound.

A state of Virginia safety inspection for a bus is very through if the shop does it per the book.  They are supposed to pull two drums to inspect the brakes.  I suspect a lot of shops skip some of the steps as the amount they can charge wouldn't cover the shop time required to do it right.

I was in a hurry to go get tires on the bus when I picked it up.  Easter's sent someone to get me at the airport, but they were three hours late.

Ok....just typed out about a page and half to tell you how I felt about this particular seller.  I hit some type of hot key and it is totally gone.

Long story short.....I agree with all comments....BUYER BEWARE......I would probably go futher and even say for me......it would be a deal breaker.  Would not believe a word they said. If I know I can't trust them.....I certainly would
not do business with them.  It is one thing if I do not know better.....However...I have stood in their office and watched a purchase and know for a fact the bus was not as stated.  I like BK's comment about lips moving.  That is true about the whole outfit.

Just so you know....this is my honest opinion.  Hope it helps someone not get hurt on a purchase.

Also, Brian ...not knowing the ends and out up there....I (we) did not know they did their own inspection.  Thank you for teaching me something new.  However....that only makes my opinion even lower.  I understand much more about the transaction I know about.

LOL, guys. We could start a thread on good 'ol Easter Bus sales in Basset Virginia.

Bobby Easter will make you feel like the best friend evah. But man can he sure take somebody. Whee!!! I agree with BK. He doesn't lie all the time. Just when his lips are moving. I MIGHT be persuaded to buy from him in the future, but ONLY since I have learned a lot more about buses.

Again to repeat BK. BUYER PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Btw, we escaped our little ordeal with him mostly okay. The bus actually ran until we got home. Then it had issues ;D.
