As time goes by the face of the board changes a little; The names of the members change. I still visit regular but mostly read now and don't comment as much. Enjoy the new Ideas and view points. Keeps everything fresh. If there were not a constant input of fresh ideas both good and bad we would have nothing to discuss. So if you get a little aggravated when you ask for input and don't get it be patient:: some old fart will chime in with how he screwed up and did it wrong or why he would not do it that way again-- if he had a choice. I make it a challenge to learn something new every day. A open mind to change and willing to share leasons learned. Bob
Good post Bob. The folks here, have helped me more than they ever will know. If you don't learn something everyday, you are pulling a obama.
take care,

That is precious!
I'm start using that one instead of what gramma used to tell me.
"learn something everyday, because the day ya quit learn'n should the day they put ya in hole and throw dirt in your face!"
;D BK ;D
Old fart?
You can you say Old Fart on this board?
I didn't know that you could say **#!#* like that here.
But then again, that certainly cannot apply to me, no sir.

Bob, good thread. And I do agree that we always need new folks to keep things going and keep us challenged.
That said, I have been pretty frustrated lately. I only wish that the new members would:
1) Make the subject wording clear. My skin just crawls when I see the subject: Newbie questions.
2) If you ask a question, have the courtesy to come back and look at the posts and tell us a bit about how you used the information (or not). We had a fellow who wanted someone to look at an Eagle. I spent a lot of time on this and the Eagle board to give him some thoughts and he did not have to courtesy to let us know the status to the investigation.
2a) The comments above also apply to many of the old timers. We need to know the outcome of posts you make.
3) Do at least a bit of a search to try to see what has been posted on the same subject. The search engine for this and the other boards is not the best, but it works most of the time. At times I get frustrated with the board search engines and use a simple Google search and it is amazing how many posts come up - from all the boards.
Sorry for the rant.
Jim

Well _______ !
(Blanks optional)
Man, talk about thread drift.
So here is my feeble attempt at rectifying my abnormal behavior.
My pet peeve is no one updates their profile, when they come on, they leave it blank. I can live with the not answering up, bad spelling, fragmented speech and often, outright nonsense. None of that crap bothers me all that much. Often it would be nice to know "who, what, where, when and why" every now and then and perhaps
where it is that they are.

Where is important! because we have members all over that can put hands on to a problem. what kind of bus. well it helps to know what we are dealing with and some of us have better knowledge with a certain model. We also are Leary of scam art-is so if you don't want to share basic info we become suspect. You need to share to earn respect. Bob
My biggest ____ peeve is people that have a technical or mechanical/electrical problem, join a forum only to ask how to fix the ____ thing, and you never hear from the ____ again. You dont hear if the ____ thing got fixed, and no thanks or anything else. Its not just here, its on a lot of forums.
Also, the search engine on this site ____. It gives you options for dates, which section to search, etc., but they dont do a ____ thing, and none of the hits are in chronological order.
Bob...I think your post brings up a good point. I for one have been very frustrated with searches and sometimes the lack of the response I wanted on the bus boards. One of my peeves is for someone to take a persons thread and then use it for their own, sometimes getting it off the original subject, and hijacking attempts by the originator to get his questions answered. This past weekend, I sort of 'vented' about my search and reply frustrations with the boards...and I did it in another persons post about aluminum skinning rivets. The next day I reread my post and was embarrassed. Besides ranting like a whiny butt I did it in HIS post, one of my very peeves. I'll try in the future, to put a little more thoughfullness in my replies here. It is so easy for things to be taken out of context and the intent misread.
I for one have SO much to learn here and maybe one day I will be able to give back a little. If I was only 30 something instead of 50 something I'd have more time to do that.

Art you had "six" blanks in there, now I am ex Navy and all that, but i had to "make up a couple of words" for the last two. That T'were a lot of blanks Amigo.

Great thread here!
I have certainly learned a lot from this great forum. Even from a few that get terribly aggressive in their responses. I look through their posts and many times find something worth learning.
And being that many of us are now very proud grand parents (such as me!), sometimes we begin forgetting things. So every few weeks, I check out my OWN profile, and review what questions I have posted and make sure I have finnished each one. (Though in advance, when I ask a question, I end it with "Thanks in advance!")
And Glen: "If you don't learn something everyday, you are pulling an Obama." That one is a prize-winner!

Great thread Bob,
It's funny reading some of your post and recalling the same sentiments with some folks forum habits in the forums I have participated in. I was a member of this forum years ago... like 2002 through 2005. When I returned I noticed some new folks... but essentially I am the new folk now. I am thankful this forum is here, the magazine is published, and the folks on this forum share thier knowledge. You really can't put a price on the wisdom that is shared.

"Pet, darn, guy, stupid, bites, silly?" Aw C'mon, you think I just got dropped off the turnip truck? There is nothing incendiary or inflammatory about any of those words or in other similar words, they could have been used in the sentence structure without hesitation and would have been non-offending.
But the use of _____ was a modifier to convey a message contrary to what those words would have given, in other words, suggesting adjectives of a much different nature. By the way,
"I use 'em all the time, so I don't think I am in the gutter, but it could be possible." I do however possess a fertile imagination and I have a pornographic mind at times (I remember every dirty picture I ever saw).
So much for today's quote from Mr. Language Person ....

Good, after reading this, I know what to do and what not to do :) Truth is, you guys are all super nice and super helpful. I'm here for good. Now, a question from the newbie. You guys mention going over your old posts. I have not yet figured out how to view all of my posts in one place ("posts by you"). Are you guys looking somewhere I'm not? Wait! Is this a hijack? :o ;)
Click on your name of one of your posts Scott and it will take you there. Look down at the bottom and you'll find what you've posted.

You got that right. I am on a lot of forums and they all have a good side. All the others have a dark side as well, but not this one. It is kept clean and friendly. I have never had a spat or anything of the sort here, only good wholesome bus porn and a lotof help from a lot of good folks. I am here to stay as well.

Bob, I really appreciated that you started this thread, as I can very much relate to your comments. I haven't commented much, either, because I feel that I have much to learn and little to teach when it comes to conversions (that, and the usual "too busy" excuses). As for questions or help, a search of the old threads always seems to resolve my issues.
If there are any regrets about being more of a lurker here, it would be failing to engage in a community of wonderful folks who I have never met but feel like I have known for years. This is especially true in my failure -- over the last couple of years -- to acknowledge the ever-reliable birthday wishes, which are always appreciated and part of what makes this forum a great place.
Enjoying the thread!
