Why are two guys riding on the back?  Do they can stop things from going wrong somehow?

We saw tons of buses down there (Nicaragua) with one or several people up on the roof. Usually there is a flunkie that puts the luggage/chickens/crates/boxes up there, or unloads them, whenever the bus stops.

Or maybe they are just prepared to jump if the bus gets too close to the edge.

It starts with one bus on each side of the river and ends the same way.  Why bother crossing?  They could just stay where they were and call it a wash.

If they weren't on the bus they wouldn't have to worry about jumping. Maybe I put too much thought into that.

That's absolutely freaky, and the bus is full of people, what a huge risk, of maybe it's a daily event. Either way you wouldn't see me as a rider,

My guess is that is it an evacuation of some sort. The road is probably used all the time and the water is not usually near as high or swift.

Now that said MEverard; I thought the same thing, but I suppose I'd rather be on the back or top if it went over than inside!

Lin; I was going to go with the same punchline , but a slightly diff twist! "I can think of much better ways to wash the under side & suspension!

Belfert; Ever hear of "spotters"? Well in this case they are prepared to be "jumpers" or "swimmers!"

IAmCanadian; The drivers are just plain nuts! It's the trusting souls that ride with them that have nerves or BALLS of STEEL!
