$300 would be a good deal if you just needed a decent generator for other uses. If it works it is a steal for an RV generator.
looks like he missed the 1 in front of the 800 rpm, that is one tough generator there not like today's Onan's those are you fathers Oldsmobile,he is a little off saying it only a couple years old though lol got to be before 1986 that is when Cummins bought Onan from McGraw
good luck
Year of old Onan mfg is in serial number. How to read year is on their website.
That generator is at least 25 years old. I have one just like it.
Works good though.
I agree that it looks much older than a couple of years, but the price is great for one in good running order. I think my Kohler must be at least as old as that one, and I'm quite happy with it so far.
I have it's grand Daddy. 1973 I think. Mine doesn't have the spin on oil, filter. They make a conversion kit to run it on propane or nat gas. No tax fuel!
The ad has been pulled, guess he saw your comments?

Don, I just tried the link, and it came up. I considered just buying it as a spare, but I really have to stop doing that sort of stuff.
Just keep in mind that "cheap" and "good" usually walk in opposite directions. FWIW.
