Title: New Nut
Post by: Godzilla on August 04, 2011, 04:51:49 PM
We are the proud owners of a 1960 4104 #4623. She has a dd67-1, 4 speed and an enormous air conditioner under the driver. The PO stated it came from the Oklahoma Transit Authority and was converted sometime in the 1980s. I am madly in love with my new toy and would drive it to work everyday if I could. Thanks for letting us be a part of your site

Welcome, Godzilla!

Now how about telling us where on Planet Earth you are, and posting some pictures of your new Baby?

Blessings.

Welcome! It's always a joy to see a new face that has decided to join the madness, at least we are not alone! ;D

If you don't mind me asking, where do you call home? You never know when another NUT lives close by. ;)

You can add that and any other information in your Profile or Signature line, just be careful how you list it. Just enough to confuse the Bots that crawl around the web and create havoc.

I'll try to re-size the photos. I live in New Hampshire and flew to Florida to pick up my new baby after buying her on Ebay. I have to be honest a one way ticket to Florida and a 1400 mile drive home in a 50 year old bus was nerve racking. The PO assured me he would drive to California and back right now. After a couple hundred miles of driving I believed him. She was so smooth and cool to look at I knew I would be OK. I caught the attention of many a trucker and dreamer on my journey north. The worst part of the trip was the end. The return to work after such a great weekend on the road. We have had her out on "camping trips" but I long to lumber slowly down the open road.

Welcome Godzilla, as a newbi myself, you will never find a more knowledgeable group of folks then you will here. And the best part is that they go out of there way to solve problems. They ought to charge!!!!

Welcome.

Wow, Mr. Zilla.

I was BORN in Manchester, New Hampshire at a very young age, after my Mama kept me in total darkness for the first nine months of my existence. I was born naked, hungry, cold and wet. Things got worse after that.

;D

We left NH when I was 4 months old, and I have never been back. I dream of going there some day!

I completely understand what you mean about wanting to drive her to work every day. I felt like that when we first bought ours...I seriously wanted to drive it to go shopping. My wife injected some sanity into me. Now, she asks to drive it...we have to take turns.  ;D

Welcome aboard!!!  I do believe you broke the rules already.  We think of bus pictures as porn around here so post them up and curb our obsessive need of looking at buses.

I lived in Manchester for about 10 years. Now I am about 25 miles east near Raymond NH.  Sorry no pics Ill try to re-size and try again. I'm glad to be out plus nowhere in the city to park a bus. I have driven to the grocery store, to get ice cream, just a joy ride around town, beer run.....I don't need much of a reason just too bad fuel is 4 bucks a gallon.

I hate to get serious so soon but I am having trouble locating a starter solenoid. The plunger moves in and out when the switch is thrown but it doesnt engage. I just touch the two posts with a "universal" key and she roars to life. Its not the worst problem to have but mildly irritating. Are there adjustments? Rebuilt kits? Thanks

Welcome.. and congrats on your new baby!  She looks lovely, and I love how she has all her original windows (or at least the shape).  Great find!

We're new bus nuts ourselves, having just bought a 1961 4106 to be our full time home on wheels. We've spent the past 6 weeks doing massive updating and projects (in the 110+ temps of Arizona no less), and now get this bus nut madness! :)

Welcome Godzilla!

We too own a dinosaur!!! ;D Ours is Pd 4104-4983. We've used it regularly for past 11 years. I love "lumbering" around in this thing too. It is like therapy for me every time I get behind the wheel! :D

These are just great ol' buses that, with proper maintenance (oil/filter/fuel filter changes, brake adjustments, lubrication, etc) will continue to run indefinitely. You will find a wealth of information on this site, and the guys gladly share what they know. An excellent group here!!!  ;)

Enjoy!

Kevin
