not to long ago on board one member said he used close out ceiling tile from home depot.  fire resistent- would do both and cheap  or fire retardant dry wall.   or any combo covered by sheet metal.  layers = best results even thin. All openings to compartment need to be angles not straight shot except through floor of bus.

Like Bob said build you a plywood box first cover with 1/4 in sheetrock glue it to the plywood don't use screws, then buy some foil insulation from HD or Lowes attach it to the sheetrock then you have a nice sound proof fire proof box and if you ever decide to redo as most do lol you are not out much money.
You can spend as much money as you wish on the box with all the high dollar stuff sold or you can get the same results for a lot less JMW

I'm a firm believer in copying good ideas and studying what professional converters have done in coaches is a good start.

If I were to do a generator installation I would concentrate on noise and ventilation, two imcompatible objectives. A diesel generator would not cause me a great concern regarding fire proofing although I would make sure I did have a fire barrier such as a metal enclosure. I would not install any generator that had an fluid leaks and I would not allow any to go unrepaired once the generator is installed.

There is no way in the world I would use a gasoline powered generator.

Here we go have you ever saw a Kubota gas engine generator in a Prevost conversion that the customer ordered,I have seen 2 not that I would want one but were the quietest installation I ever heard.
Both buses belong to a rancher in Texas,they were converted by American in Ca (Mark) a premier Prevost converter
