Title: eagle ac removal, fan oil lines?
Post by: demodriver on August 03, 2011, 08:07:14 PM
Ok My fan had three hoses going to it.  What is the proper way to plug/remove the one going to what I believe is the over ride for the fan?  One appeared to be tied into the engine oil pressure. I figured I can chase this down and cap it. The other I ran out of day light and time to chase down. Anyone know what it is?   Looking for any good advice on what to do with these lines.

Thanks in advance.
Eric

You can see the lines in the pic. The top left goes to what I believe is the fan over ride switch.

The top left I have no idea. I ran out of time to chase it.

Bottom appears to be tied into the engines oil pressure.

I don't know what 3 you are talking about most have 2 lines running from the compressor 1 on each side of the compressor tying into to the Robertshaw switch mounted above the compressor on the frame never saw one tied to the engine ? are you sure the 3rd line doesn't go to a air cylinder for the belts

good luck

No I am not 100% sure that it goes to the engine but what appeared to be dirty engine oil came out of it when I removed it.  The top left line in the pic goes up above the engine and ties into a T. I will post a pic in a few.

I didnt have any air cylenders for the belts. The belt tensioner was a manual style set up.

thanks Eric

Look at the sight glass on the compressor and see what color the oil is there the Texaco oil Eagle used was pretty dark

good luck

if you look at the bottom right of the pic. The line that comes into frame is the one that is top left in the above pic. This one had a small amount of clean oil. What do I need to do with this line?

thanks again.

That is the skinner valve for the air clutch on the fan in the upper part of the photo, the line on the right bottom goes to the compressor should have 1 more some place and a Robertshaw switch some where in between but you never know on a Eagle AC but I never ran across a unit tied to the engine with a oil line

good luck

Well I had to figure this all out yesterday so I could drive the bus.  The two larger lines where in fact oil lines. One supply and one return. And the other was the air line for the fan clutch.
