Title: Can the torque converter on a B500 tranny be drained?
Post by: belfert on August 03, 2011, 04:04:22 PM
I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but I figured I would ask here.  One of the parts guys at a local Freightliner dealer when I was buying Mobil Synthetic ATF said the torque converter can be drained.

Nothing I've seen definitively says it can't be drained, but nothing says it can be drained either.  The mechanic's tips manual for the 3000 and 4000 series I found on Allison's web site says nothing about draining the torque converter for a routine fluid change or for removing the transmission.
