as long as they are not physically damaged no reason they wouldn't work just fine.

Reading the OP's phrasing of his question, I'm suspecting the "189" is not a quantity, but perhaps a specific year  (1989?)

My only concern would be a drying out of seals, from lack of use.

WEC4104,

Where are these seals on a roof air? I didn't think they had any......

They may be a completelly differant animal but i purchased two Duo-therm basement a/c units that where 16 years old but still in the box( 300.00 each )  ( never installed ). Both units ran for about 1 to 2 hous then started freezing up and fans started running backwards. It turns out when i took one of them to the shop and had it fixxed. They found two capasitors to be bad ( they have a shelf life on the older ones ) they charged me 105.00 for labor to fix it, Not bad. So on the other unit I ordered the same capasitors for 8.00 each and installed them myself. I currentlly have one unit installed and will be getting the other installed ( myself ) soon.
