Just purchased a 1991 Prevost Cole Conversion Coach that hasn't been run since 2005.(owner passed away, wife didn't need) Put new batteries in engine bay and fired in up. Sweet sound. It has a 8v92TA and Allison HT-755CR Transmisson. What should I check to make sure it's good to go. Mechanic is changing all batteries as we speak. The coach was a new coach from Canada when converted and has 56,000 miles on engine and Kubota gen set has 41 hours on it. This thing looks new inside and out. The man,s Grandson said he has done all service on bus and all fluids and tires were changed a week before his passing. Any help would be appreciated.
If it were me, I'd change all of the fluids and filters on everything (engine, transmission, generator) since they have been sitting since 2005. That way you have a baseline for your maintenance schedule. I'd get some spare fuel filters, you may need them as you run the old diesel through the system. You may need a biocide if you have some growth in the tank. Check the date code on the tires, they don't recommend that you run them longer than 10 years from the date of manufacture. You will probably need new house and generator batteries as well if they have been sitting since 2005 and they got discharged. Sounds like you got a sweet deal!!!
I'm changing all batteries in coach. This had 8 8d batteries for electric systems in bay. Should be finished today. I've never had a piece of equipment like this . It's a piece of work. It came with all paperwork and manuals. Does anybody have a Aqua Hot water system? (diesel fueled) I gave $57,000 (a steal) and started adding batteries and who knows what else. This coach has been sitting awhile but looks new. The stove, oven and washed and dryer have never been used.
I would take it to Prevost service center let them give the ok on all the mechanical on the bus money well spent with a 8v92 I would worry more about the coolant than anything with it not driven in 6 years and need to change transmission fluid as soon as possible and your price is about in line with what a 91 is selling for now days they ask a lot more but no one pays the asking price as you found out

Congratulations on a great deal.
Not to be discouraging, but you can count on a lot of equipment failures over the next year or so, mostly in the coach systems. All the appliances, however little use they have had, are twenty years old and have not been used in years.
When we bought the 94 Vogue, an upscale, well equipped coach, everything worked, but in the first year we lost the back up camera, one of the air conditioners, the alarm system, and two igniter boards and a transfer switch.
Not a big deal in the overall scheme of things, but prepare yourself.

What Len said 2X. I purchased my coach 7 years ago, first year prob's inverter, house batts, 1 start batt, B/U camera, stop solenoid on genset.

I don't think bus conversions have bottomed out yet Don they are still falling like a rock,I made a offer on a 91 Beaver and I am hoping and praying the guys doesn't take me up lol some people are so far under water on the conversions they do anything to rid that burden now and the future is time to buy just prepare yourself to hang on to it tough market if you need to sell
I'll let my grandchild worry about resale on mine. I paid cash and happy with what i could afford. Thanks.

I have to agree. It's just incredible to me, I am always hearing of these fabulous deals, but when it comes to me or my turn, they are nowhere around. It just blows me away, and this isn't the first one I have heard of either, I have heard of others.
Believe it or not, I am completely satisfied with my old hoopie and the thought of selling it, well, that is just too far out for even me to imagine (
and we all know I have an over-active imagination don't we?). I will just keep pluggin' away and putting in the miles and when the time comes, someone will get a really good deal at the estate sale.

That is the way to do it buy right drive that baby and don't think of it as a investment like some do because it far from a good investment money wise but the best you can have for family enjoyment

THE ONE IN SPRINGDALE SAYS IT HAS 222,222 miles on her and is $84,000 it dose indeed belong to jimbob duggar.
I found the original invoice and it started at $335,000 before they started adding extras. Finished product, $415,000 and change. They looked at the coaches at a Bus Show in Las Vegas and ordered this one. I knew the original owner and wife (in her mid 90's now).They owned a successful trucking company in west texas. I asked her if the coach was for sale and she told me the price, I like to fell over. Sometimes you get luckey. I will try to post pics when I can.
I would still take it to Prevost in Ft Worth or Stewart and Stevenson in your area no matter what the mileage is all the hoses are 20 years old.

Kudos to you for being in the right place at the right time!
Since you're a newbie, be aware that your 8V92 needs STRAIGHT 40wt, 1% or less sulfated ash, oil in the engine. Detroit does not recommend multi-weight unless you're in the Yukon. Chevron Delo 100, Shell Rotella T, Mobile Exxon Delvac are three popular brands, there are others. Usually not on the shelf at WalMart - you've got to order it from a petroleum products distributor. Comes three gallons per case, you need seven gallons for an oil & filter change.
Also, if you'll take a couple of minutes to edit your profile to include your coach model, engine, transmission, city & state, that can, in the future, help other busnuts help you by being able to direct you to local services, answer questions accurately, etc.
Be sure to check out the other bus bulletin boards, too. You've got BNO (www.busnut.com (http://www.busnut.com)) and the Prevost busnuts group over on Yahoo. BNO has a GREAT searchable archive, going back several years prior to this BBS. Yahoo's groups go back almost as far, but the bbs isn't easily searchable. So you've got lots of resources for your questions.
