As mentioned in an earlier post (http://www.busconversions.com/bbs/index.php?topic=19940.0 (http://www.busconversions.com/bbs/index.php?topic=19940.0)), I added an inline flash tank in my propane system. Although the tank's original purpose was for portable use, it will now be pretty in one place permanently. Therefore, I was thinking that it would be an added safety feature if I added some Locktite or similar to its threading connections. Any opinions on this?
I use Megalock on all pipe thread in gas applications. I should be available at your local plumbing supply. It's blue. it's also a pain to get the joint apart once it sets up. Don't use it until you are ready for the final install. Any other types should not need a sealer if the pipe & fittings are properly prepared & installed.

You need to hear from some of our Propane experts to know for sure but I think that the thing you should avoid in LP systems is anything containing petroleum.
I've had no leaks in either of my bus systems nor in my house using no thread sealant.
Without a doubt we don't want leaks. Also remember that with propane we are talking very small amounts of pressure compared to water lines which may approach 40 lbs psi or hydraulic which may reach several thousand lbs psi. Nothing wrong with being careful but don't get paranoid either. Use a thread sealer designed for lp application such as oldmansax recommended.
Megalock is what the gas company here uses, that's why I use it. Like I said though, It's a pain to take apart.

There is also YELLOW Teflon tape for gas applications. Brass gas connectors should not need sealant.
Thanks for the help. I am not directly concerned about sealing as much as I am about the connections working loose over time. I have seen that permanent tank fittings have some sort of binder to stop that. That's why I asked about Locktite. Tom, although Megalock sounds scarey, that may be what I need.
I just wanted to pass on this information regarding Loctite as per their tech support. If you want a semi permanent bond, one that can be broken with hand tools, use Loctite Blue. Use Red only on something that you want to be absolutely permanent. In order to break the bond, it will have to be heated to 500 degress.
