After Joe's post on the backup battery, I decided to see if the DDEC 2 has a similar battery.   I don't see one anywhere.

Anyone else see a battery?

My understanding from other posts in the past is the older DDECs didn't have batteries.

I can't tell from the second picture, but look at the large, plug in chip, with the label on it in the upper left.  Is it a two level chip?  In other words, does it look like a chip plugged into another chip and then plugged into a socket?  If so, the middle chip may be a battery.  Just a possibility.
