You kayak guys are crazy I watch you guys come from all over the world every year to Idaho and ride the class V and VI rapids it keeps the paramedics and Life Flight pretty busy for that week I must say as they beat their self up for over 50 miles what class is that 11 or 111 I know the flow changes the class at different times of the year just not my sport.
Me I wait for the flow to slow then raft down that baby lol

good luck

Jack,

Sir you are alot better than I, helmet, gloves, frothing cold water, You go Jack.

I did kayak yesterday for the record, only because I need the exercise and the ocean was like a lake, no waves at all. Wind & waves did pick up, but nothing to speak of.

Enjoy,

At that level Class 3, maybe III+. I don't do Class IV or V. I want to have fun, trips to the ER are not fun. LOL  My son & I served as safety boaters yesterday for a Hospice Poker Paddle benifit on a Class I-II river. We will run that section today for fun and roll practice tomorrow evening at a local lake. Tomorrow will be 10 consecutive days in our kayaks. Life is good!!  This is a photo of my son. Jack

I don't blame you I have saw those guys really beat up after a 8 mile run down the class V,and VI runs doesn't look like fun to me on those but they will be back the next day for another run at it if they are able to compete, the III is over the top for me in a raft lol.
If you ever get to Idaho we have a place a Garden Valley you can park and do the river for about a 12 mile stretch you are welcome to it anytime I'll watch

good luck

Me and a group of 6 friends from high school took the bus to Turkey Run State park in Indiana and went Kayaking for the first time saturday.
It was slow paced and relaxing but I would like to try some of the better rivers after some more practice  ;D

If that's what you like to do all the more power to you. As for me, I'll just look at the river since that's way too rough for me.

When I am no longer able to travel or do "stuff" like this, I don't want to be sitting in a rocking chair saying "Man, I wish I had done that when I was able to". Whether it is kayaking, riding motorcycles, skiing, dancing, or whatever, do it while you can.  Jack

Since we're posting pictures of boats, here's one of me taken a couple of weeks ago:

(https://busconversionmagazine.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ncsc.org.uk%2F2011%2Fearly%2520may%2Fimages%2FTMH_3847.jpg&hash=d298b260461a9179e2353eac944850932e3a03f9)

The only mistake the photographer made was taking the picture when we were in second place (my boat is 3672). We won the race.

I agree with you about family. This is the first time my son & I have had an opportunity to much together in several years.

Jeremy,
   That looks like fun!   Jack

I never had interest in rafting or even fishing for that matter. So when I get to be a feeble old geezer, I won't regret not doing things like that since I don't care to do them now. Plus, if one was to get permanently injured doing some daredevil activity when you "young and healthy", one may regret..."I shouldn't have done that." I don't begrudge anyone just question that's all. When I was a kid, I thought it would be great to learn to fly a helicopter. Years later, I looked up a place that offered lessons and saw the price. I lost interest. :) Flying commercial suits me just fine and the seats are nicer.

Jack - I could be more like you if I tried - I'd say for you and Paula to have some fun, but it's obvious that's not necessary  ;D
