Title: Board etiquette, PUI
Post by: Hi yo silver on June 04, 2011, 10:59:23 AM
Ya know what PUI means? Posting under the influence. That's what happened when I posted an abrasive response to John Ed's posting re. R-12 Replacements. I was just sure everyone would read and admire my mental accuity in putting someone in their place for drifting into a gray area that might possibly be drifting a little off the main thrust of the conversation.

After rereading the thread today, I of course, see what a horse's patootie I was being, and wish this thing had an eraser on it. And, I wanted to post my apology within the thread so everyone could see that I had a handy, if not good excuse for my bad behavior. Trouble is, then I would be guilty of the same thing I was accusing John of. Trapped!!

Anyway, I apologise for my bratty behavior, and from now on, when I have a cold one, I'll sit on my hands while I read the BB. ...I'll bet this make some of you go back and read the thread again...LOL

well, your post was fine with me, but it WAS a topic about refrigerant, not the political issues... i thought that stuff was supposed to be in the "Off Topic" part of the board, and when someone posted something, he got a response from the most liberal city in Oregon of course...  ;D ;D ;D ;D So what else is new? ;D ;D

If PUI were illegal, and computers had an on-board breathalyser, there would be a lot less posting, that's for sure.

Your service will intail you to install an anti-PUI monitor on your computer. [should take 8 hours] ;D

Best work is done by some PUI...

History is full of them.

Scotch powered Winston Churchill and John A MacDonald come to mind.

American examples may be provided by those better versed in corn whiskey?

Why would busnuts any different?

happy coaching!

Dennis,

As I told you in my PM, I didn't think you were all that far out of line.  That may indicate my problem.  Hmmmmmm?  I'm sorry!.....just in case.

Good for you,

John

I have posted under the influence myself. That is when the true feeling come out. The next day you wonder why you exposed yourself but don't hide behind being under the influence. This board seems to drift away from bus building very often. I have seen some not posting because of it. We all need to think about what good a post will do for the whole board not just to prove a point for one other poster.

My thoughts

I know I have posted a few late night items that did not read well the next day. I'm looking for someone who is willing to be my designated poster.

If PUI is an issue with anyone, they should do it on Off Topic where nothing is expected to conform to any standard of reason.  I know that I feel free to post oversimplified, questionable opinions there.  That's what most seem to do there anyway.  Here, we should require more thought.  Maybe there could be a separate thread category for apologies.

Guess we need an "Ignored by 17 members and I'm not apologizing" thread

Now before anybody takes serious issue with Lin's post: consider he might have been tired and had a couple beers before he said that.  Not say'n he did....just say'n.  And while your at it, cut me the same slack even though I can't drink.  ??? ::) ;D ;D ;D

  Hahahahahahaha!

The biggest problem with alcohol is we lose our judgement first. Thankfully, most will simply say things that arent really harmful, just more truthful, things they wouldnt say sober because were more polite.

I didnt see anything wrong in the post, you seemed to be coming from the heart and I took it into consideration in sober thought. As BW suggested, sometimes a little whiskey talk lets everyone know how we really feel. I appologise for dragging political thought into technical discussions, or debating them, when they have no place, and will try harder in the future to avoid it.
