Title: NRG
Post by: Ace on May 29, 2011, 05:33:33 AM
Our first Non Rally Gathering is going on right now. We had I think 12 coaches attend. We had a great all get together pot luck dinner lasrt night with the same planned for lunch today. Not much to report other than people are doing what is supposed to be done...havin fun and enjoying the sun!
There's no meetings to attend or bickering about the food. Everyone is doing their own thing so to speak. There are some just chatting, some playing games, ome went shopping, some playin music, some tinkering on their rigs, some fishing, some biking and some walking!
All in all, a great gathering!
Pictures later when I get to a pc.

Hmmm, I thought that was how they all were. Maybe we've been doing it wrong up here in the north, but that's pretty much how all our rallys go!

On the other hand, none of the gatherings we've been having are associated with any organization, other than the organization of personal friendship.

It seems to me that most of the newest members to the bus community (in the past 10 years) have not joined the local chapters or the FMCA branches and so
out gatherings tend to be more informal. I'm not sure why this is. Some of the long time chapter members come to our gatherings, and some of us
have attended some of the chapter gatherings over the years, but it seems like a point in time was reached where joining the chapter
stopped being the most common path in this hobby. I think it might have something to do with the amount of information available online, now.

But having fun is what it's all about, so it sounds like your rally is a resounding success!

I have to agree with Gumpy.  Our generation had to join a club to find people with the same interest because there was no other way to find people that shared the common interest. Todays generation can do all this online.
As an example, when we arrive in a new area, I can find people to kayak with using my computer and starting with Google.  I usually find someone to kayak with in less than a couple hours.  Jack

I agree as well! My thoughts are why would anyone want to plan time away from work for an outing only to find themselves in a heated meeting that never gets anything resolved? I admit any club needs meetings but they should be conducted in OFF time, meaning before the gathering or after!
Our fiest gathering went very well. Nobody complained about anything other than it didn't last long enough.
I've been to many rallies where there were meetings. Some I've attended, some I just listened to those that DID attend and its the same thing over and over.
I feel it should be very informal, come as you are, do what you want type gathering and this weekend just proves that it does work this way. Definitely NO politics at all!

Ace

It sounds like you guys had a great time. What a concept, a getaway with just fun involved. I hope to be able to attend some gatherings like this in the future.

Miles that's too funny but in all honesty, the tanks did in deed come up during one conversation.

Mike and anyone else, if your ever in central Fl. and just want people to gather with, without all the hype, look any or all if us up. We'd be more than happy to go or plan around your arrival. We try to at least get together once a month if not more. In fact, the question came up as some were getting things packed as to where we were going next. Nobody knows....yet!

Also want to add that we had (i think) 12 or 13 coaches. Let me see if I can remember who they were.

Myself and Susan
John and Lynn
Wynn and Cathy and grandaughter
Bob and Donna and son Michael
Bob's parents
Tony Manna (sp) and his wife
Jack and Jackie
Bill and Brenda
Ron and Sherry
Dave and Doris
Bill Anderson and his wife Adelle
Steve and Harriet
Ken and Pam

There were 2 Eagles, 2 Prevost, 1 Neoplan, 1 truck, 1 travel trailer, 4 class a mh's and 2 class c mh's, so you see, anyone is welcome with anything. Just come and relax and share the friendship. I know we all did!

I may not have everyone listed or even the correct stats but its close!

Yes we did have a good time, and that's how it used to be, ace, jack,Gumpy and all the rest are correct, the problem sometimes is the wording,The term rally has been thrown around so loosely over the years a lot of people get confused, a Rally is the gathering of lots of clubs and or enthusiasts, getting together for a sole purpose of enjoying and sharing their hobbies and PERSONALITIES, A Gathering is just what ace put together and it was like the old days, Lets keep gathering and enjoy our experiences together and Like jack conrad has done and FMCA and others, all GATHER together, For a RALLY At the end.
