Title: House plugged into bus Again!
Post by: robertglines1 on May 26, 2011, 05:26:21 AM
Lucky! yes we are ! we did not suffer the tragedy our neighbors to the west did. We have a bus to bridge over a minor bump in the road for 4 or 5 days till power is restored. 3rd time this year and we are only 1/2 way thru the season.  Bob

Glad you have a backup Bob. This is some crazy weather for sure and I feel so sorry for those that have lost basically everything along with the lives of loved ones. These storm systems are really moving along at a snail pace this year.

Many are attributing climate change to this. I really gotta hurry up and get my projects done and finish my bus....... http://climateprogress.org/category/extreme-weather/ (http://climateprogress.org/category/extreme-weather/)

Many are attributing climate change to this.

And many others are saying just the opposite. Is it real science, or just want we want to believe?

In the Great Tornado of 1925  Look it up:: Tornado of 1925 Griffin Indiana :: between 700 and 800 dead. So other than better notice: not much weather has changed. We are just better informed.

Bob & Judy,

Glad you both are OK.

Nothing like having the coach as a backup.

I know we have used ours many times and worth every penney when you need it.

Now back to working on that Bus...... ;)

Teresa,

Thanks for the link to all the libral "propaganda".  Hard to believe that there are a serious number of "plain folk" that still believe that all that is either "not happening" or is the direct result of Kalifornia allowing gay marriage.  Your link had an awful lot of data I hadn't become aware of...such as the Texas drought and the serious increase increase of number storms and wild fires.  It would logically follow that if the frequency of tornadoes continues to increase then the mid west will become so dangerous as to be not safely habitable in the summer months.  At least we won't be able to afford to rebuild completely on an annual basis.  An awful lot of the damaged property in New Orleans still sits not recovered from Katrina.  To hard to do.

I know that electric service is interrupted in those areas of flood and storm, but what about gas as a utility.  Is it any more reliable?  I have seen huge emergency generators back East that ran off of Natural Gas. Just wondering.

Thanks,

John

Keep working on that bus.

Thanks,

NOAA, the US federaly funded office for weather observation and weather research, otherwise known as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, has admitted to moving thermometers around all over the world, some that had been giving data for years. Ultimately, they have taken thermometers from low reading areas, and moved them to areas with higher readings. All this has accomplished is to show an upward change in global average temperature that may or may not be realistic. The reasoning behind it is questionable at best. Then you have NASA admitting they over reported the loss of glacial sea ice by over 1 million square miles??? Come on people, these two offices are the world leaders in this stuff, and they are misreporting?

I find it fascinating that all these people screaming about the Climate, including people within NASA and NOAA, fail to show the world the data from their very own satelites, SOHO, which have been watching the Sun since 1996.

An 8 year old could look at it and say the Sun has gone through some waxing and waning periods, right through the hottest summers and coldest winters, yet these PHD types simply disregard it and continue to blame other factors that are virtually invisable if not downright non existent. Anyone can twist facts and manipulate data to show the trend they want to infer. Especially big Universities who stand to gain millions in research money that would otherwise be off the table if there was "no problem".

Funny you dont hear anyone mention acts of God anymore. Maybe when everyone is left with nothing, when its all been taken away and reduced to dust and ash, maybe then they will look up and call his name? Doubtful.

Art,

On this topic alone, I would like to agree to disagree with you and I exoect that will be mutual.  No sour grapes now, right?

If a tornado goes through natural gas can be disrupted.  There were gas leaks in Minneapolis as a result of the recent tornado.  I suspect that uprooted trees broke the lines.

I have a natural gas backup generator at home and always figured if natural gas and electricity are both down I have bigger things to worry about than loss of electricity.

I like to watch the weather and see what the record temps were for various days. On average the high temps for this area are mostly from back in the 30's. Probably because of those Packards belching smoke and all.  :D It's funny how when we suffer from sub zero temps they blame that on global warming also. Mother Earth will take care of itself. There is very little that we can do to change that fact as we have recently witnessed. We may not be here but the Earth will do just fine. I don't think much we  do will change the outcome.

"Many are attributing climate change to this"
Yup, especially when they make statements like this
"Central China's worst drought in more than 50 years is drying reservoirs"

oh, wait a minute.

1936 was hot everywhere, and very few places have ever exceeded the records from that year. The lowest flow of water at the St Anthony dam in Minneapolis was 1936. As hot as 1988 was it never beat the record. And there is some knowledge that the late 1800's were even hotter. Read Laura Ingalls biography, when she and Almonso traveled south out of De Smet, some of the temps she wrote down are staggering.

Heres records by state, pretty unreal temps.
