Title: How to Articles from an Industry Expert
Post by: Ford_Foragers on May 16, 2011, 12:33:38 PM
Hi Everyone,

My name is James and I am new to Bus Conversions, I have just purchased a 1989 Eagle 20 and am starting the conversion (well fixing and picking up after someone else :-\ )..  Now to the reason of the post. I purchased the bus from Gary Bennett owner of B&B Coachworks in Las Vegas and he has hired me to revamp his website. Gary has 35 years in the bus conversion industry doing custom builds and I asked him if he would be willing to do some (How To) articles. He has agreed and now we need a subject for these articles.

This is where you all come in, we would like to hear what you would like to know about. So here is your chance to pick the brain of someone who has done just about everything there is to do to a bus. Please respond with your ideas and I will make a top list and we will go from there. When the articles are done I will let everyone know where they are for your viewing pleasure. I look forward to hearing from you and Thank you in advance for your input.

In the mean time I will post pics of my conversion and ask all the crazy questions new comers ask........

How about advice for cutting a hole in the side of an RTS (which is the one piece frame thing) for a different door? Or sealing up doors? Or building a good sturdy hitch? These are things Im most interested in right now....

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, yes Van I am currently in Las Vegas. We just got here from Portland, OR and I must admit I'm not sure on this desert thing, this time of year is usually green with everything growing and all I see is brown  :'(

Thanks for the input so far and I hope more people chime in. I have kids so I wanted to know about basement bedrooms, playrooms, storage utilization, and upholstery tricks.

Thanks,
Ford_Foragers

p.s. I am not about to talk about Garys hairdo, that's up to you all to tell him  ;D

The Eagle we just bought has a basement bedroom. It's pretty neat.  There is a big upholstered bed/pad,  the walls a upholstered,  air conditioner,  heat,  and tv hook ups. Three kids stayed down there. I saw a picture of one in an old issue of the magazine that had windows.

James, we are doin a front bay bed room/play room for the G-Kids, I got inspired by another nut here on the BCM (Basil) who turned me on to the idea. Coffee pot as usual ;) is always on and I'm always home, so come on by, and get you some and enjoy the view of the lake, family included of coarse ;) and see how us po folks convert a bus on a budget ;D ;D
looking forward to meeting you guys some day.  :)

   Welcome to... FABULOUS LAS VEGAS!!
