Title: Headed to Frisco, Texas
Post by: wal1809 on May 14, 2011, 02:57:46 PM
Headed to Frisco tomorrow to attend a bloodstain pattern and analysis class Monday thru Friday.  I am staying at the lake just to the west of Frisco.  Any bus nuts out there want to meet up.  I will have a "5th of what bitcha" and probably have the pit going with chicken fajitas or fish tacos.  If your close stop by and we can have a typeless conversation, feast and drink. ;D

Well that was an exhausting trip to say the least.  I turned onto I35 and traffic was stacked like fried chicken in a bucket.  Dallas was simply unpleasant with the traffic and the accident on the freeway certainly hurt my time frame.  I thought 5 hours max, but it took 7 hours to get to the campground.  I am whooped and going to bed.

Oh my WVO filter finally clogged.  I could feel it starting to get sliggish just north of Dallas.  I needed to purge anyway so I just switched back to diesel.  My figures put 1200 miles worth of wvo through the first filter.  $10 filter for 1200 miles, I can live with it.  Thank God and all that is Holy I brought extras.

Wal,

Sorry about the trials and tribulations.  Glad you made it OK and the bus ran well.

Well thank you Sir.  Most of the problem is people getting just past the bus and swerving into the lane I am in.  There were some very close calls.  Close as in not being able to see traffic at a dead stop just over a hill or overpass.  They would cut in and then have to slam on the brakes.  Fortunately I was already uptight as it was and I was able to shut down with the brakes and the transmission.  It is also fortunate I don't like to go too fast.  It makes braking a whole lot easier.

I thought yall were in Abilene.?.    But I don't hit 35 until Waco at loop 340.   I was near Georgetown the other day when I went to Taylor to get the tools to my second trade.

I agree, it is really dangerous when people do that! What Ive learned to do is spot them coming from behind me and going up the side. I know what they are going to do so I start slowing down when they are mid way up my side. Let em pass and smell the roses for awhile longer, life is short enough as it is.

We moved to Georgetown in late January, will be here until around July 31st. We are staying at Berry Springs RV Park, just north of the 130 toll, east side. Nice park and lots of spaces due to snow birds flying north. Give me a shout next time you are in the area.

I used to LOVE it when a trucker on the CB said he was the 'Frisco Kid'!  I would come back and ask if he was from San Fran or Frisco, TX.  Nobody ever was!LOL

Paul I have been through there about 4 times since you moved and I waved every time but I did not see a return wave. Guess I will have to start blowing the horn.  Is that park on the south side of 35 close to the Florence exit?  Rod

Rod, Yes, That's the one. Very nice park with paved roads, 50 amp and pretty level spots. Sorry I missed the wave, must have been asleep. ;)

How long are yall going to be there in Berry Springs?  The name of that place reminds me a a really neat swimming hole to the west of yall.  I think the name is Krause Springs.  It is a natural spring that formed a small lake at the bottom of a cliff.  I have been to it once and it was smokin hot that day.  The water is really nice and cold.

We'll be here until July 31st, then on down to New Braunfels for a few days. We'll have to check out Krause Springs, sounds like a neat place.
