Title: Marks on glass?
Post by: MCI-RICK on May 07, 2011, 02:43:19 PM
Went to look at a bus today.  I noticed all the side glass panels had marks on them.  Looked something like shattered glass.  Is that normal? or is it time for new glass? ???

fiberglass?or window glass? If it is a fiberglass sided bus this is not good and is usually a sign of sever exposure to the elements and is a difficult repair. If it is actually in the Glass(window) you can  decide how many you would retain if you were to convert and determine cost. If already converted and spider webbing is occurring it is just a matter of time before they will have to be replaced.  Just my opinion.   Bob

Rick... Were the windows Lexan?? I know that most lexan windows like the ones used in the RTS are almost always crazed after a few years. Usually you cant tell it from the outside...but it shows up big time if inside looking out.

The bus is a 1986 TMC 102-A3 (looks just like the 1986 MCI 102-A3).  It has the usual non-painted stainless steel sides below the sign area.  Are the windows in that bus be lexan?  Here's the vin# 1tufch6a4gr005417

It all depends on what the previous owner ordered, or retrofitted,

happy coaching!
