Title: correct multiable battery charging method
Post by: demodriver on May 03, 2011, 03:44:06 PM
OK I have did a little research on this on the net and have got various answers.

I have three batterys in my eagle. I have been using the factory lighting to do the remodel work. So I have been using my charger on the 2 amp charge and just leaving it on. It automaticaly shuts off when charged.

My question.
What is the best way to hook the charger up? Would hooking it to the outer battery be fine? OR... Should I hook the positive to the outer battery and the negative to the inner most battery?

Whats your guys thoughts?

Eric

Hook to the + to the starter and- to the factory ground works for the factory charging systems

good luck

Im not wanting to climb under the bus to hook up my charger. Especially with all this rain.

I'll make myself clear for you there is a cable going to the starter and the ground from the batteries no need crawl under the bus

haha ya to many paint fumes when I read that lol.

On my batterys the positives all run towards the engine. They are not hooked together at the battery compartment.  The grounds all bolt to a common place on the frame work inside the compartment and then another cable runs towards the engine area.

I will have to chace the positive cables down and see where they go.

The 3 cables tie together at a insulated junction terminal behind the batteries mounted on the frame then 1 cable to the starter if you need manuals Don Fairchild has the parts and maintenance manuals for a model 10 for sale 1-661-391-4520

good luck

A two amp charger is not going to matter if hooked to just one battery. High charge or discharge currents do matter because unequal lead resistances result in batteries not sharing equally, but at 2 amps any differences will be negligible.
