I'm wondering if any of the GM '06 owners here have come up with any interesting uses for the A/C PTO on their coaches. My A/C compressor is still installed and coupled to the PTO, but the condenser is long gone. I've been thinking lately that it could be used to turn an additional DC alternator to supply power to an inverter for powering one of the roof A/C units during travel. What are you fellow '06 owners doing?
Where is your PTO mounted? Is it off the transmission like a V730 transmission? If so, yes, it is great for running a truck alternator off of and to power an inverter.
Nope, this one is right off the front of the engine, at an angle back towards the front of the coach.
Geoff,
He's talking about the AC Compressor PTO that is driven by the Torus drive for the cooling fan.

I dont think it will work for a generator. Possibly and altenator. Primarily, due to engine rpm changes when driving. Ask Sean.

I've never had one apart so I'm not familiar with the PTO's bearing design, but since the original AC was shaft connected, I wonder if the PTO would be suitable for the heavy side loads of a large belt-driven load.
