Title: Sheppard Steering Line Routing - 4106
Post by: travlinman on April 30, 2011, 08:50:33 PM
Hey Guys,

Just finished replacing the oil in my Sheppard Power Steering, and it still howls. Not as bad but still not right. The correct  air bleeding procedure was followed with no better results. So now on to the next idea - are the supply return lines hooked up correctly? Check out the photos fellow 4106ers and let me know! See this thread as to what has already been discussed. http://www.busconversions.com/bbs/index.php?topic=19090.0 (http://www.busconversions.com/bbs/index.php?topic=19090.0)

Thanks

TM   Try taking the filter out of the reserve ( fill ) canister as a trial run. If it in fact has one, could be restricting
pump suction (feed). leading to growl just like air noise in system.      06 Bill

You might try a increasing the size of the line from bottom reservoir to the pump this is a low pressure side. Also what weight oil are you using?

I've got 15w40 in the system now.

So, is the filter the item in the upper left of the second photo??

Thanks

Upper left is the pressure side filter, which you may be able to disassemble and clean.  The other filter is inside the bottom of the reservoir, upper right of that picture.  That is the filter mentioned as a possible restriction on the input (suction) side of the pump.
