Looking for direction here. I have removed the inoperative safety shut down intake elbow with the shaft frozen in it.
During the day today I beat, cut, lubed, heated and destroyed the shaft in the unit but it is now out.
I need the shaft and the spring for the plate, or I start building my own. Any suggestions?

I have a complete, probably fully functional (I never tried it) complete emergency shut down system from a 1980 MCI 8V71 surplus to needs. If you want it, PM me an offer. I know it isn't frozen, beaten, heated, or otherwise abused. I just don't know if the solenoid works.
Seriously, the later versions of that engine had a different fuel rail system such that if one injector froze open all the others were spring loaded and could close. The version that you have is slightly more at risk. If you want such a system as was stock, let me know.

Might try Luke at U.S. Coach.
