Title: Air leak Final up-date
Post by: coloradorich on April 09, 2011, 07:22:08 PM
Finally after all the leaks it is done.
To recap 1. Thought bad Air Dryer valve ( rebuilt ) not necessary
             2. Found leaky air bag ( replaced ) absolutely necessary
             3. Right Trailing Wheel Safety Valve leaking ( replaced )
             4. Leak on R-8 Dual Brake Valve ( replaced ) not bad, but don't have to worry about it anymore
             5. Trailing Wheel Regulator Valve leaking ( rebuilt )
             6. Bad Parking Brake Diaphragm ( replaced )  Don't believe anyone when they say it can be changed with the tires on.
Not possible. Even with the wheels off it is hard. I even had to remove the shock.
It also helped having a Big A** C Clamp to hold it together while tightening the ring.
             7. Also found a leaking Shutter valve. Since my Bus has no shutters, disconnected and cap lines

Bus airs up just fine and holds air. So thing are all right in Colorado. Good thing to as we leave for South Dakota Tuesday.
Hope that what I went through may help someone else with air problems.

Thanks to everyone for your help and advice.

Rich

Excellent report!

Be sure to document these maintenance activities, you will be amazed at what you won't remember in a few short years...

And then work through the rest of the air valves, as time allows, to freshen it right up, and enjoy the reliability for years to come.

happy coaching!

Really nice post. I hate when everybody gives advice and speculates and we never know who was right or wrong if any and what fixed it and what dident. Way to go.
