I am looking for someone to do steering upgrade on Mci 8 that has done one before in the carolinas area.
Gene Russell (Russell's Diesel Service) in Mill Spring, NC can help you.
Gene is the man! And his rural location in Mill Spring NC can translate into low overhead.
He'll be attending the SEBN rally at Palmetto Cove in Cleveland SC later this month if you want to talk it over. A nicer, more fair person you couldn't ask for.

Anyone have Genes number

I called Gene today he has never done one and dont know what it will intell.
I am going to install integral steering in our MC-8, probably in June, at a friends near Greensboro, NC. If you want to help, we might be able to do both. This will be my 1st steering swap, but he is a certified welder and great fabricator. Do you have all the parts for yours? Are ya'll coming to SEBN rally at Palmetto Cove? Jack
Chart,
Call David at David's Coach in Connelly Springs,NC 828-874-6105.

Gene was probably just being careful. Anyone who can put integral steering into a Silverside (Gene) can do it. I suggest contacting Sam Caylor (Caylor Supply, Rantoul, KS) and he will send you the mounting plate and the box, all ready to install. He sells these kits all the time. They will go right in. You have to have a couple gorillas that are skinny enough to get in the tire compartment though. Heavy! Best upgrade ever for an older MCI.
I second calling Sam for the parts or even to take a vacation in Kansas City area and have him & Archie do it for you!
They have done it many many times and have all the parts there ready to ship or install!

Now if I were looking for someone on the EAST Coast to do it I would call Luke @ US Coach and consult with him. http://usc17.tripod.com/repairs.htm (http://usc17.tripod.com/repairs.htm)
;D BK ;D
Sam will install it also but he charges as much labor as he does for the parts cost me 3 thousand ( maybe more now) on my 8 to have him do it and let the fire works begin but they screwed it up and Kaiser had to redo some of it but Sam paid him
good luck
No fireworks from me Clifford!
It's good to know about others experiences and also good to know that Sam paid to correct it!
I just know he's done a bunch of them and always has any part I need for an MCI.
;D BK ;D
Yup, I like Sam. He is a good guy. He has been fair, whenever we have purchased something from him. I have been down there several times, picking things up, from him.
For the busnuts, I have said this before, but I will tell it again. Sam said it really bothers him, when a busnut calls about a part. He tells them the price, and they try to beat him down further on the price. He charges a fair price. If you want his part, just go with his price.
God bless,
John
