Does anyone have a source for a softer motor mount (Other than stock)? I have a 5C and would like to see if I can get some vibration out at idle. Thanks Tom Y
Tom, go to marine engine mounts I use the Dual/Flex find their site on the web and it will have your engine a little pricey but they are nice and sorry I forgot the link but will look it up for you if you don't find ot
good luck
Clifford, Do you think the Dual Fex will remove more vibration? I will see if I can find them, if not I'll get back to you. Thanks Tom
Clifford, I see a lot of places to buy. But not the MFG. Do you know who makes these? My other concern is if these are meant for something other than a boat? I can see me running into something and the motor now sets beside the driver? Thanks Tom
Tom says on the box www.bushingsinc.com (http://www.bushingsinc.com) I just looked and they have a listing for all marine engines with weight and size
good luck
Does your installation of the L10 use the stock MCI motor mounts? Front and rear? Just curious how you did it.
Brian
I made the mounts and used the(used) MCI rubbers. I replaced them a couple years ago, with new. I had the motor out this weekend and started thinking about trying something else. Tom Y
Tom, why did you have the motor out?
The guys who put series 50 engines in MC-8's and 9's have some soft motor mounts to accomodate that shaker. Look for some S50 motor mounts and see if you can adapt them. The 8v from the MC5 is very smooth compared to a 4 cyl engine.
Brian
Most of the guys with series 50 and 60 do use the marine mounts
good luck
Brian, That's another topic. But I am changing transmissions.
I am not sure I want to spend a few hundred on motor mounts right now, and i know my wife doesn't. Tom Y
Hello
Can you get the standard mci rubber mount bushings anymore?. I had trouble when I installed the L10 but I had a set of the rubber ones leftover from a previous job. I used the rubber 892 bushings for the front of the engine. I only could get the polyurethane rubber mounts..
If you have a source for the old style rubber mounts let me know.
thanks and regards mike
I've had to do some strange things with Cummins irrigation motors (industrial). The earlier ones would shake everything apart. I didn't change anything on the motor but had to seperate things that generally are attatched to it.
Yep the L10 Cummins can dance on the same floor with a series 50 when it comes to vibration on my L10 Cummins engines in the service trucks Cummins changed the vibration damper every 2500 to 3000 hrs or they would shake lights off a truck
good luck
Just as a thought I thought I would might mention that on my 5a when I lost my fan belt I could not fell the engine run, turned out that all the vibration I was feeling was being caused by a bad pulley on the fan drive. after replacing pulley I had very little but more than with out the fan belt.
Mike, I bought new ones a couple years ago. I think from MCI maybe Mohawk.
The L10 does not vibrate that much, but setting at idle there is a little. I was hopping to find the same mount in a different type rubber. (easy change, low cost) Not sure where else to look. Tom Y
