Ebay: 1954 GMC Scenicruiser (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320678642476&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1123)
The interior looks good from the pics. It needs at least two A/C's. The genset is a portable unit (or looks that way). The 39k BIN is pretty ambitious. It's a Scenic cruiser that's looks to be in decent shape. While the price may be what it was worth, I doubt very seriously they will get half of that.
I really like the GM buses. 8)
The first thing I noticed in the first two pictures, is that it looks like its bent, with the back end drooping down ever so slightly from a horizontal line after the rear axle's.
The interior looks pretty good, but the paint looks like something from a US Air Force Base.
There are a lot of really, really nice Buses out there when you get up near $40K. I think you would have to really be in love with cruisers to go that much on this one, at least IMHO.
I personally think that if the structure is good and the bus has all the documents on the engine, brakes and airbags, it would be a good deal if a Scenicruiser guy got it for around 30,000. You could not find a Scenicruiser and get it to that point for that price... The way I look at it, a guy could get it and do the things he wants cosmetically. Then he would have his blood and sweat into it and have a very nice collectable Scenicruiser for under 50,000.
Just my thoughts,
Gary
If you look at the side picture, take a piece of paper and line up the flutes of the aluminum skin. I found it to be perfectly straight. Pretty unique for a 55 year old bus that was one of the first 40ft'rs made and they did have problems with the body cracking. Good Luck, TomC

Just did the same thing, and my eyes must be really bad. I see about a 1/2 flute width in droop after the rear axle. Straight as an arrow forward of the rear axle, but dropped behind. Its even more pronounced along the upper roof line. In the side quarter view, a paper along the line shows a full flute of droop. But how wide is a flute, 2 inches? And if its some optical allusion then just check it out in person with a string. Its a 60 year old Bus, maybe it was reskinned drooped and is as strong as an elephant? As long as its structurally solid and you like Scenics and it has the value YOU like, far be it from anyone to tell you what to drive. There aint a lot of them around, and they do look cool.
for an out of the crate engine with 20k miles on her it looks pretty dirty and old.
I know my bus has a bit of a sag behind the rear axle-but then again, most of us do have a bit of a sag after 55 years! (LOL). Good Luck, TomC

you can say that again
Four hours remain at $15K. I watch 4501s very closely. Thats pretty strong money for this bus, I would cut my loss and let it go. (especially in this poor ecomomy) This one has been for sale for a really long time. I hope he does well.
