Title: Gen-set air bags
Post by: eagle10 on March 30, 2011, 07:45:48 AM
I have a Martin diesel 17.5 generator that needs air bags as they are leaking. Waiting for a call back from Martin but wondering if anyone knows of other places to get them. Any tips on putting them on to make the job easier??

FWIW I have never seen "generator air bags." But I suppose they are just small air bags on the mounts to take out some of the vibration.

Might try ebay for some small "sleeper" airbags.

I have seen them many times. I have never had them on my other two conversions that we did but the one we have now has them.

I guess EAGLEs need air ride on the generator since they don't have it on the suspension! ;)

I don't think your going to like the prices from Martin - while their shop rates are low, they more than make up for it on parts - FWIW

Martin Diesel told me that they want $73 plus shipping for each air bag. I am still hunting for someone else that sells them to get other prices.
Thanks for the other contacts. No luck so far.

Don't get the passenger airbag - they're really noisy!

Luverbus what about the gelbags.

Expound some what where why

I like the concept. That is something different . On boats you see this?

Very curious?

Possibly like a set of discarded breast implants, firm LOL

Understand that you can't just throw anything under the generator.  Those air bags are designed for a specific weight and vibration frequency.

Yes I have also seen buses with 2 regulators on 4 bags for the gen.

! reg feeds the 2 bags on 1 end 1 feeds the other 2. The engine end of the unit is heavier than the head and some seem to think the air in them needs to be adjusted accordingly.

Vantare is one that uses 2 and I am quite sure I have seen that onother conversions too.

Don't really know if that is neessessary thou many others only use a single regulators
