Title: r/h or l/h drive
Post by: skihor on March 25, 2011, 11:27:14 AM
I don't have a clue which direction my 6V92 runs in our MCI 5A. I'm going to bid on a 6V92 out of a Prevost, so before I do I need to know.

Thanks guys

FYI, when we pulled the engine to fix the oil leak, we cleaned off as much built up oil, grease and dirt as we could with a pressure spray and purple stuff.  Low and behold, we found lists of the options included in our reliabilt engine, and max rpm/hp.  We have since photo'd both labels, and peeled them off to a protected page in our manual.

Also told the RH/LH thing.

Look at the front of the engine (opposite end from the clutch) if it is turning clockwise it is a right hand engine.  If it is turning counter clockwise it is a left hand engine.  The reference came from when you used to have to hand crank the engine in the car to start it and since most people are right handed-it was easiest to right hand crank an engine that is turning clockwise.  Good Luck, TomC
