I know GM has them, does any of the other makes? As the tank gets close to full it whistles. Mine is in good shape, but I have only got it to work one time filling at a truck stop with the larger nozzle. I don't think the smaller nozzles have what it takes, apparently you really have to be throwing the fuel in the tank to make it work. Has anyone else got theirs to whistle?
If you really want to, wrap the fuel nozzle in a rag and it will whistle.
Too much air back out the filler, the large truck nozzle blocks more of the space for air to escape, more air out the whistler.
My MC8 will whistle.
happy coaching!

My 5a gets a whistling sound as it fills. I thought it was just a coincidental thing.
On my 4104, the whistle is clearly working. If I recall properly from da book, the whistle kicks in when you reach 100 gallons in the 140 gallon tank.
It works on my 5A ;D
Mine whistles on my 4106 too....
My whistle is working, starts blowing about 10 gallons from full, when it stops the tank is almost overflowing.
Yep. The whistle on my 9 works. Sometimes I don't have a full tank, if it's just Marilyn whistleing because she needs something, but I'm learning to discern between the two...

I believe the whistle is mandatory. I know that on my home heating oil tanks, if the whistle isn't working they won't deliver oil until I fix it.

See you are never to old to learn all the years with my Eagle I thought that was just a vent tube making the whistle noise
good luck
having just taken the whistle apart on my heating oil tank so the guy would come out and fill it, the whistle is just a vent with a restriction so that it whistles. The vent extends down so the rushing air stops rushing when the fuel level gets high enough to cover it. The requirement is for a sufficient volume of air, hence volume of incoming fuel, so it might not work on a retail pump.
I am guessing the same thing is at work on the bus tank.

My AMGeneral transit has the whistle and it works with any flow, any size nozzle. I also learned to cut off the flow when the whistle just starts to disappear. If let go longer, the fuel will spit back at you when the nozzle automatically shuts off and fuel spills on the ground and on the side of the bus. Just one of the many things you learn about your bus. Good Luck, TomC
Yup, ours whistles. I don't pay much attention to it, but it does....
God bless,
John
I don't have a whistle on my Dina. All I have an opening about 4" diameter on top of the tank that the fuel goes into. I actually have to open a large door on the side that I open to fuel the bus. The entire tank is exposed when the door is opened. I can see the fuel level through the hole.
This is the first I had ever heard of a fuel whistle.
Yep, our gmc that we just sold did it. Kinda cool, it gets your attention. It gets higher pitched when it is almost there, then shuts off.
My 4104 whistles but not as loud as my credit card. $4.19 per in western washington.
My MC7 whistles Dixie when crossing the Mason Dixion line when pointed south. Honest it really does! LMAO sorry I could not resist! John L
Our 4106 always whistles, starting at about 25 gallons from full and ending about five gallons from full.
