Title: Battery Equalizer Cable Size?
Post by: mcidave on March 03, 2011, 12:13:12 PM
I have a 60-50A Vanner Battery EQ that I want to instal on a MCI9 with a 270 amp 50 DN Generator and I want to know what size cables should be used to connect to the starting batteries in the stock location?

It depends on how much 12 vdc you intend to draw, size the cables for that load.  In my MCI, the 12 vdc feed was fused at 30 amps and the cabling was all 10 gauge.

Now, I am unclear if the current into the 24 vdc terminal needs to be added to the current out of the 12 vdc terminal to size the ground cable.  I suspect it does, but I don't know.

Page 9 of the owners manual has recommended wiring sizes for certain wire lengths and fuse sizes -
