I'm giving serious thought to picking up a good all-round air wrench that I can use in the shop as well as on the road. I have searched the board and found a few posts on the subject, but nothing in recent time.
I know there have been improvements in these things but the marketing hype that follows is probably suspect. What I'd like to hear from busnut experience is a recomendation for an air gun with the beef to handle bus wheel lug nuts, yet small enough and light enough for other chores.

Your best buy the I/R 2135qtinax Titanium 1/2 drive 780 lbs of torque both ways on 5 cfm of air cost around 350 bucks lightweight and easy to use stay away from Snap On or AirCat they are China made junk now

Yup, Clifford, you just had to do it. I had been happy with my I/R Thundergun....But now that I see they have something better, it looks like I will have to upgrade ;D Thanks for the info though.
FWIW, I have been happy with my IR Thundergun. However, I would suggest getting the 213. Looks like a better gun.

I bought a IR 2135Ti from Sears a couple of years ago and have been happy with it. I can't remember what i paid for it but know that it was way less than $350. In fact i think i got it on sale for around $100.
I concur about the IR impact guns. If you are going to remove wheels you will need something bigger like a 1 inch
Hellua of buy Ed should have bought 2 and made a few bucks best I found was 347.00 when I bought mine I gave over 200 for my 3/8 drive IR/T

GM, I am actually going to disagree with you here. IMHO, the 1" are too "dangerous" to have near the bus. There have been so many stories I have heard about breaking the studs, because of tightening them too much with a 1" gun. Now as a bus owner, that is different. You will be careful about stressing your studs. However, I will not let anybody touch our wheels with a 1" gun. If that does happen, I am the one using it, or I am standing there watching. I won't let them run it down all the way. Snug, then finish up with your torque wrench (so you still have to ratchet it several times before it clicks).
As far as practicality, I could understand want a 3/4, maybe. A 1" gun is harder to manoeuvre in small spaces. Has way more power, then most of us need. And it is simply harder to control. My 1/2" I can use just about anywhere.
Before I jack the bus, when I am doing wheels, I first break the lugs. Six foot cheater bar on the end of a 3/4 solid bar, no problem. Breaks very easily. Then I simply jack the bus, and buzz them off with my 1/2 IR. Putting them back on, I simply hammer the lugs down with my 1/2", then set the bus down and finish torquing them. Works very well for me.

I agree with Clifford, IR is all I use and you can't beat the quality. The rest is just mediocre or worse. Just be careful on the small bolts it will twist them apart with little effort, just choke down the power and you'll be fine.
I use the 2135QTiMAX as clifford suggests, it now has 1100 ftlbs tq. I have has mine for over four years. I am mechanic by trade so I use mine more then most will. I have been very happy with it. Besides sears check tool source on line. They will beet most prices.

I thought that maybe i still had the sales slip on it and it turned out that i did. :) Got it a little longer ago than i thought, 4/1/06. Paid $152.99 plus $13.62 sales tax for a total of $166.61. ;D
