Any one know a good fairly accurate weight for this combo. I just bought the complete setup out of an Eagle to go in my Eagle.
Need to see if it is too heavy for my trailer and need to look for another.
Includes engine/trans/mounts/exhaust/air intake box/miter box
Single axle trailer probably max weight 3000-3500 lbs.
Thanks Ed
Your close Ed 2860 lbs dry, 2020 lbs for 6v92, 840 lbs for 740 I wouldn't do it with a single axle trailer 40 lbs for the miter box and 14 gals of oil a few extra lbs for other thing going to be real close, does that 6v92 have a front mount turbo or top mount if a top mount I have the stuff for the front mount for a 05
good luck
Clifford,
Thanks for the numbers, figured it was going to be close. I will find a bigger trailer got to haul it 275 miles.
It is a front mount turbo. Thats what I like everything should be there that I need.
I'm only going to do this once so I am going to go through the engine completely.
Know of a source for an engine stand that doesn't cost more than the engine !!
Thanks Ed
I am currently making an engine stand that is four legs that bolt to the sides of the engine. four 7" by 8" 3/8" thick steel plates with 2" by 4" tube legs welded on. You have to move some stuff to be able to bolt to the block on all four corners, but the tapped holes are there all along the sides of the block on both sides. Probably cost me $100 by the time I am done. I am making the legs long enough that I can drop the oil pan.
FWIW

Brian,
I want to make one where I can rotate the engine, so as to be able to easily remove and install crank.
Have you seen the OTC version. I can't see how it cost $ 4550 for that steel. The gear reduction drive can't be
that expensive.Know of a source for a gear reduction unit ?
Here's what summit wants for it

Ed, if you going to do a complete rebuild you need one that will rotate the stands like Brian work till you need to remove the bell housing and oil pump I have a rotating that I own 1/2 of to bad you are so far the freight would kill you just use a cherry picker and the stands it will work for you
good luck
A giant worm gear set like that is going to cost the bomb, one-off. I would hate to even think about the cost of a big chuck of tool steel to make the gear wheel, let alone hobbing the gear and hardening after. It has to be a worm gear so it is self-locking. I think that engine stand is a deal. I couldn't make one for that money.
Interesting question, though. I did see it for $4100 somewhere.
Brian
You guys shop at the wrong places, I could build that stand for about 26 cents a pound if doing it for my self, add some labor if I'm doing it for someone else.
I have a great scrap yard just 4 or 5 blocks from my shop.
Where do you live Edd, & do you care to disclose what you had to give for that engine tranny combo?
You can buy a foot diameter 90:1 worm gear and hardened steel shafting, plus machined line bored bearings for 26 cents a pound?
the stand ain't the issue, the rotatey bit is the issue...

Probably, you wouldn't believe what I find there, I have unlimited access to the whole yard. There may be something there now that would work.
Charley,
The gear drive is the problem as Brian said. I got a steel shop close.Maybe you can come up with a gear drive let me know.
I live in Murrells Inlet S.C. (Myrtle Beach area)
What I am getting is the engine/trans, miter box, frame rails, engine mounts, exhaust, air intake and air filter box
shifter cable.
$3500
Know where there is another one heard it run also.
Thanks Ed
Gonna go there in a few to see if my stolen trailer axle shows up today & I'll take a look plus put my bird dog on it.
Axle laid out by my trailer for 6 months, the day I decide to fix it and put it in it comes up missing, go figure >:(
7 gear drives there 3 large right angle Nord 4 right angle or T drive Morse
Clifford,
Are you sure a 6V92/740 weighs that much? I picked up Brian Diehl's with my 1845 Case skidsteer and loaded it in a pickup for the guy who bought it. I don't think an 1845 will lift more than about 2,000 pounds. Oh wait, Brian stood on the back of the machine as a counter balance!!!
275 miles isn't all that far.......
Fred
Guess I won't waist my time taking any pictures or getting any more info on them
