Title: "Rustless Money Pit" first load of scrap sold to "Salvage"!!
Post by: Gary LaBombard on September 12, 2006, 04:50:36 PM
Just wanted to let you know I sold my first load of rusted, crapy, rotted framing from my 1973 Eagle today for $65.00 for 1800 lbs.??  Wow, gas is up, rust is up, man everything is up.   Just wanted to see my first load taken off the premises, many more to go.  I bet the weight of the metal framing is from the "Inside" stuff.

I forgot to mention I have some bumper corners that may be useable to someone, "FREE" to one of my Busnut buddies or gals, except for the cost of shipping which is not free.  I will take photo's of tomorrow and post, also the bumpers in this photo are all rotted inside, bent to beat the ban and no good so don't sigh and think, (What a butt wipe), if I throw away anything, no one can use it.

I'm sure glad I didn't have that much steel to get rid of!  My bus only has a little surface rust below the radiator fan in the engine compartment.

I just got $92 for 45 lbs of scrap from my bus on Saturday.  I was pretty happy.  Mine was mostly copper with a little aluminum.  The place I go to won't even pay for steel, but they will take it in smaller quantities.

I used the $92 to buy some 4/0 welding cable from a guy I know.  He gave me a really good deal as it is probably worth more than that as scrap.  I still him $110 more as I wasn't planning to pick up the cable when I did.

Gary,

That is just amazing!

I have a whole trailer I am about to take to scrap....

When it goes from looking like a stack of treasure to "a stack of "what was I thinking" its time to scrap.  :P

Keep up the good fight...
