I have a bad switch and ready to leave in the morning. I tried putting 24 volt and ground to both of my defroster motors and they do not spin??? there is no chassi ground to motor them selves. shows open between housing and frame(ground) I checked frame ground and it is good. I'm missing something here? I usually understand elect circuits. two bad motors? Motors are 3 speed. ???? ??? Bob low 12 volt 2nd 19.7 volt and high 24 volt.
to add to my confusion I have another ? do variable speed motors have to start at lowest voltage then progress to higher voltage??
Those have a 200 amp relay with a inerlock make sure the alternator is charging the relays will not open till around 24.8 volts or above
good luck
Actually, I think luvrbus meant to say the relay picks up and the contacts "close" at the appropriate voltage...but you probably knew that. Grab a towel to wipe the windshield and come on down here. I'm shading my eyes looking for ya. You won't need a defroster either. I feel smug, bragging about the weather here today.
Dennis
Dennis coming in on site 101 dirty bus and all. I have ceiling fan over driver. so should keep window clear. Just bugs me when things don't work and I can't understand them. Have a couple spare motors so may just bring them along in case I get bored.
Have a great and safe trip Bob. I have the same issues that bother me with little things that really have little bearing on the trip at hand. Your last trip in this bus if I am correct. Enjoy. Next year you will be hearing and dealing with a whole new bunch of stuff to fret about!! This one you already know all about. Head south........
Update: proved out to be the ground wire had broken strands within wire. While it showed good to test when load was applied it wasn't even good enough to spin motor. Replaced damaged wire and all is good now. Ignored my own reasoning process and assumed ground was of good Quality. Of course 4 days in Florida sun didn't hurt thought process. Bob
ya, ya, ya go ahead and rub it in!
