Title: Obsession (good kind)
Post by: kevink1955 on February 17, 2011, 08:16:48 PM
I come here at least 10 times a day, do not own a Bus and most likely never will. Go to a few Boating sites, nope no boat either. Go to an Onan generator site, nope my generator is a Generac. Go to at least 5 Mustang sites, nope no Mustang (at least my son has 1)

I go to these sites to learn. I also find most sites have some very inteligent people who offer in depth advise to help posters solve problems.

BUT I have never been to a site that has so many careing people who would go so far as to offer things like a place to stay while the broken down bus is being repaired or to deliver needed parts over a long distance.

I have been converted, I am still on the edge of my seat wating to hear what happened to the engine that had sparks coming out of the exaust on the first trip after purchase.

Keep helping each other and I will keep reading

Well, I come on here quite often too. I don't own a bus(except a bunch of 1:50 CORGI's) but I have loved buses all of my life and enjoy the info and insight that this group brings to the table. I visit the sites of MCI, PREVOST, and VAN HOOL on a regular basis just to see the specs and new deliveries. I also love firetrucks so I visit various builder sites. How did people like us get our info fix before the internet? That seems to be at least a lifetime ago.

From shows and clubs...but mostly from magazines. Hobby magazines are my business, and cover just about every 'obsession' you can think of, although I've yet to come across 'Generator World'.

The world will always have traditional magazines, just as offices will always have paper - but you're right - it's hard to imagine life without the internet now.

Thank you for saying what I have been thinking, and wish I had said myself. I too have/am been on several forums and also having noticed the higher level of kindness and friendliness expressed on this forum. Makes ya wanna own a Bus just so you can be a part of it dont it?

Paul, we all know your days are numbered anyway. Some people might buy a bus so they can be part of the camaraderie, but I think you want a bus just so you can conquer your driveway!  ;)

Very cool post! I like that!

Although I do have a bus (an RTS), I go to the school bus sites and dream a lot too  ;D One day I want one, but first I have to conquer this big sucka!

I grew up with 5 school buses in regular service with my dad.  If you can conquer that big sucka, the schoolie is just a truck and will be easy.
Learning this Big Pig is a whole new ball game.   Rides on air... What is it a carpet?   24 Volt system....  Its no Cessna!! and the two stroke diesel thing... From the bottom up? that just blew my mind.  Just hadn't been there, Have now!
