So I type out a long new topic post and add a photo. I should know better by now but I forgot to copy it before posting, and you guessed it. File too large! The worst part is that the best I can tell you loose everything typed when that message appears. Is there anyway to recover the typed section of the post? The back key sure doesn't work. It's to late for me to redo it now and I am way to pissed anyways. Argh! Triple pissed! >:( >:( >:(
So what were you typing? ;D
On a lengthy post us a word processor like Microsoft word to type your post. Copy and paste that and if you loose your post on the website you will have your backup in word. That's what I do :)
The topic was: San Francisco in a bus - How to
I was posting on where I found to park right on the bay near the Warf and how to get around etc. Similar to what I did for Washington D.C. I might need to chill for a week or so at this point.
Knob creek on the rocks. It might set you right. I won't poke at you no more I know it aint no fun to lose a long post.
Mike that is what I used to do until I went back to a Mac. I usually always right click copy before I post, but it was just one of those important steps that I forgot to do this time. Pure stupid of me! Might go back to the old way, we'll see.

Be there done that... and it pisses me off when I do it as well >:(. Years ago I lost several pages of an email to my wife (when we were courting) and I could not recover all the random intellectual musings I was having lol. If it is important, I use a word processer and set it to autosave.
BTDT! Sorry to hear it happens to others as well!
;D BK ;D
Hi Barn Owl,
Sorry this happened!
No way to recover that. As others have stated, copy/paste or word pad.
I usually add photos after posting just for that reason.
Nick-
BACK IT UP ... BACK IT UP ... AND THEN ...
I too work off a MAC.
Here is how I do it. I work up the document in Pages, copy it in Pages, and then I bring it over here and post it. You have to spend a little time cleaning it up and making sure it is right, but it works out well. I do this with the body of the work AND the photo links, copying and then bringing it over.
Works for me. If it don't, I have the original locked down and safe on my hard drive. Which allows me to live and fight another day!

Barnowl,
We have been contracted to work a large music festival in GG Park for the past three years. Have taken the bus every year and have been able to park at the polo field beside the stables. I have never parked anywhere else in SF, but I see alot of folks with buses and RVs parked along Fulton St. on the edge of the park. Not sure, but I think they hand out tickets to these boondockers if they catch them sleeping there?
When just hanging out in the Bay Area we stay at the KOA in Petaluma. Nice campground if you don't mind KOAs, and they have shuttles to and from the city.
By the way, staying in GG park is kinda spooky after the festival is gone. We are normally the last ones to leave, and that part of the park is always cleaner than we found it when we pull out.

PS--I feel ya on the disappearing post, I've had that happen a few times. I'm a two finger typer and it takes me awhile to make a post!
I have Mac also, and also just copy to save.
All I can say is no other forum I am a part of, or been a part of does that, or does it nearly as often as this forum. Most other sites at least remember what you wrote so you can resend it. Why they have a resend option here when it deletes everything you wrote is beyond me.
I feel your pain.
I will be writing and forget what I was reading what I thought to post and yep hit the go back button and there she goes. I go back to my post and nothing there and then I forget what I was writing, I call that HalfsHeimers (Our family uses the term because my Mom had the full Version many years ago)because I am not old enough to have the full version yet. LOL

I lost a 6 page document I was typing for court once when I was first learning to use computers :P Fortunately though I still had my mouth ;D
And I just want to add that Petaluma KOA rocks! I went there last year on the way to Oregon and I cant wait to go back!
Tis better to be pissed off than pissed on. . . . BTDT :(
It maybe just me, but it amazes me at how common & plain the new text is when the lost text was so profound . . . ;)
BTW, with such an effort on such a usefull topic, please write it in word & also submit it for publication in the magazine. Tips on how to use the bus after it is done are just as important as tips to build them! ;D

It''s called San Francisco North KOA in Petaluma,CA and it is a great Camp Ground especially for Kids, Lots to do. Another on closer to the coast down same road is the Dunes, The peninsula at Bodega Bay, and future up Salt Point, but I am not sure which ones take Buses. If over there and you like Oysters ( Johnson's at Tomalis Bay) you can buy as many as you want or go out n Barges and get your own during the season.
