was wondering i have three buses cant use them all .... my o1 eagle and mci5a has 8v71 both have rebuilt by my mech but he has since passed on i also have a 78 mci-8 that engine has had nothing done on it would they interchange? try to sell but its been hard and scrapping is a thought.... would like to figure out if the switch would work
thanks charlie
The one from the Eagle is a pita to swap to a MCI
good luck
The MC5a has a different engine cradle to the MC8, but are similar otherwise. The alternator mount is different but I think the belt drive on the 5 would work on the 8, I think the other way round is what doesn't work.
Cradle is not hard to change, you have to switch the wiring harness and take the water pump off, but that's not hard. You make have to change flywheels if one is automatic and the other not. that's all I can think of.

The one from the Eagle has turbo?
the eagle and the mci5a has no turbo the mci8 has a turbo and its a 8v71 it was from arizona
I'd stick with the engine in the MC8, if that's the bus you plan to use, unless it demonstrates it has a problem. Maybe it's fine...
