We have a 1992 Prevost that we just bought that has a charging issue. Put in four new 31 batteries yesterday. Cleaned all battery conections including the wires on the voltage regulator. Cleaned the main ground stud. Strarted it about 20 times and no charge. Yesterday I started it, it went to about 27 volts but it is the only time it has charged. Any ideas???
Thanks.
Mine is an 83 Prevost with a 65amp Delco alternator on it. It will not show it charging until I get moving. I have tried turning on the lights while sitting still and nothing. After a few minuets of driving it will show it to start charging. I have not had a problem with it so far so I am living with it like that's just the way it is.
Lots of places to look, do you have a wiring diagram for it? If you can give me the last letter and the last 4 digits of the VIN I can point you to one online.

If it is charging now don't worry about probably just the Vanner cut the system out till all the batteries reached the same discharge level
good luck
Charging problem solved. A Canadian bus nut friend visiting here found it was a relay in the back panel above the engine. Switched out one from the back up lights and it is now charging. Thanks for the ideas and comments.
