Title: Adding a tach in a 4106
Post by: bwze on February 02, 2011, 11:08:25 AM
As the title suggests, I'm curious about the means to add a tach to my DD in my 4106.

If you have a tach drive coming off your blower, then you can add a tach generator.  If you still have the Delco 50DN alternator (or most alternators) will have a tach hook up.  Good Luck, TomC

I just bought a VDO 3000 tach from my local NAPA store. I removed my Air Pressure Guage and installed a 2" air press indicator below the dash. I ran a #14 wire from the 50DN to the rear electrical panel. I have a VDO Speedo so all the factory speedo wiring is available to be used for other purposes. I don't remember which of the wires I used but it was the only one that is 14 GA. Once I had the siginal to the driver panel I followed the instructions that came with the Tach. The unit works great and I think it's a good bang for the buck when you consider the cost to gain ratio.
