Hi,
Next year some time I will be in the DC area to visit the Cap. and do all the tourist stuff. I expect that will take a few weeks. I can't imagine a park in DC that I can afford. I was wondering if you could make any recommendations for a place to stay? We want to commute into "town" by the best means possible and I will have my toad to commute to mass transit stations. Any info or advice you might provide is appreciated.
John
Stay outside of town and take the Metro there. You will not find a place to park. and it be alot more fun ;D. The cost of the Metro is cheap ;)
Several years ago we stayed at Cherry Hill Campground in Maryland. The metro bus picked us up in the campground and carried us to the sub way and that straight into the capital area, or I guess any where else in DC. Was very convenient, they sold tickets at the campground for both the metro bus and the subway. We had a toad but we never used it for trips to DC, although we did drive around some. Jim
Hi John,
We spent 2 weeks in DC last summer and stayed at Cherry Hill Campground. Local bus service stops in park, and the town is very easy to see with no driving. Bus, train, or subway, all very easy to learn.
The campground was very nice, clean, and well managed.

John,
Lawt time I took the bus to that area, we stayed at Pohick Bay Regional Park. There's a website. Nice park. I'm not as brave as Barn Owl yet!

This place is a little farther out but has a shuttle to the metro station.

We made the trip back east 2 years ago and loved it. We also stayed at
http://www.duncansfamilycampground.com/ (http://www.duncansfamilycampground.com/)
and I highly recommend it. We drove the car from the campground into town several times and had no problems and found plenty of parking. Great trip and our first time back east and it was a memoriable experiance. We did use the GPS extensively but no problems at all driving around.
John when we lived in Rockville, i did some repair work at the Cherryhill campground , it is popular but tight for my taste, as said transportation services are there. as Tom and others said Duncans looks nice!
