I have a customer who has a MCI 8, 1975 model who is going to scrap. It has a 8v71 and a 740 allison trans. interior is gutted,. Possibly a source for parts. Located in east texas, between Dallas and Shreveport near Kilgore. If you need assistance you can pm me, but I have no interest in this bus.
he has a video of bus running. CALL HIM AT 903-504-2452
Wish I had known sooner. I called him, he said he was down to $2K and had no takers, so he gave up and began stripping it. The radiators, heater cores, and all the copper are gone, it aint going anywhere now.
I got a chance to go look at this unit. Engine systems are still intact. Radiators are there, as well as squirrel cage blowers and drive assembly. Has a 6.5 onan generator, water tanks and heaters, as well as three roof airs. Body and bay doors are shiney and straight. I could not find a rebuild tag on engine, but it was dark.
He is not going to dismantle anything else for 1 week. If you need pieces, call him. Or, the whole thing for $2000.00
Again, I have no interest in this machine, But I know some of these parts are unobtainable.

Note; this bus is a mile from my home, and I know his Mother in law. He can take videos and send them to you.
@ $2000 this is a steal! I wish I had the extra cash right now! (but like I need another bus sitting around here)
;D BK ;D
The guy called me back a little bit ago to confirm what John just said. The only thing they removed was the copper running along the floor. The rads and everything are still intact and the Bus would run with some tinkering. The interior camper stuff has been removed too, but the roof airs are up there.
One issue he said it had was the brakes are froze up and, IIRC, he said its not building air/raising. Dont know if the brakes are rusted imobile, if it has blown bags, or if its just a simple air leak/compressor problem. If the brakes are physically rusted, that could take a great deal of work to get it rolling, but for $2000 what do you want? He didnt say, but I get the feeling it could sit there for a bit and you could putz with it to get it going.
I'm 350 miles away and cant get out of here till next week, or I would run down there and look at it today.
He also said he knew of another Bus, says it looks about the same so its another -7,8,9 something, and was going to check it out for me. Said it used to belong to Barbara Mandrell. Probably out of my price range but I will report back if I find anything, maybe someone else would like it.
On another note, a guy not too far from me has an older MC5 conversion that supposedly used to belong to Mel Tillis. Its another one of these thats been sitting unloved a while, needs a tire, has a fuel leak on the engine, putzy putzy stuff, etc...If that was something I could make work that could be fun to own. We'll see....
paul, if you come down, let me know. Maybe i can help.

I got my guys selling Buses numbers criss crossed today and called the guy with this -8 by accident. He had just pulled all the AC stuff and heater core's, and was fixin to pull the radiators. I said I thought he was going to wait, and he said he was just tired of waiting and wanted to get on with it.
I did talk to him about Bus parts, that some of the stuff could be worth more than scrap. If anyone needs anything you may want to call him before he really gets on it. Talking to him he's gotten kinda tired of tire kickers and just wants to cut it up and haul it off for scrap. And he is really going to town on it by the sounds of it.
