Title: air door valve
Post by: ruthi on January 23, 2011, 01:46:55 PM
Just wandering, we have an air actuated door, and every now and then you have to mess with it to get it to close. Just wondering if this is  something that needs to be took off and cleaned, or if it is something that usually needs to be replaced. If it needs to be replaced, would like to order it in advance, before it is took off and cant be fixed.

I believe you have the BODE door system on your bus and I had the Wabco system on mine.  On my bus the solenoids that operated the door were mounted just behind the door on the outside wall of the bus.  My door didn't always operate and I finally discovered the connections to the solenoids were shot.  I had to replace the connectors with new ones.

This may or may not be your problem.  Dina may have relocated stuff when they went to the Bode system.

Does your door have a positive 'stop'?  My door has a piece of metal that corresponds to one on the body.  When the door closes it settles on the body 'stop'.  I don't detect any noise from the door but it could be that I can't hear the door over the driver's window, the roof flap and/or the stove clattering as I drive.

Ruthi, call MCI tech support and give them the VIN # they will verify which door your bus has and send you diagrams for the elec/air and mechanical operations of it. They also can help you determine which parts are bad if any. (when we had problems with ours they sent dad all the info he needed and talked him through several steps of finding and fixing the issue.)

BK, it might be worth a try. We found the numbers on it, The logo is S A / MASATS  and the part number is 2129A. Not sure about the A, but it looks like an A, if not maybe a 4. That is the number on the air cylinoid valve.
