Andy, call the State of Texas and ask them to send you a travel guide for the state it will list all the RV parks and things to see and do in that area doesn't cost anything and you will need it after all you are going to a whole different world take this from a Texan lol btw you can stop at any Texas Welcome Center and pick one up stop anyway on the way down lots of money saving coupons in those books for camping.
When you get into Texas call me I can tell you were every free camping ground with electric, water and sewer are located on your route you know how cheap I am lol Sonja said you can do it online she thinks you can download it also
good luck
OK Thanks Clifford & Sonja
Andy,
When I visited San Antonio we bit the bullet and stayed at the KOA because I didn't know the area, and didn't want to take a chance on an unknown place. (I'm still learning where I can and can't get in with the 40' bus and a toad.) Well, I can't brag on their accommadations or their attitude. I've sworn off KOA. I'm sure the folks on the BB can help you do better for less $$. Good luck. Have fun, and enjoy San Antonio.
Dennis
We stayed at a campground (there are several) on River Road by New Braunfels. We were parked about 20 feet from the Guadalupe River. Nothing fancy but fair priced and that is hard to find in this area.
Here are 2 sites that, I believe Clifford and Sonja are referring, www.traveltex.com (http://www.traveltex.com) and the state parks website, www.tpwd.state.tx.us/parks (http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/parks).
The town of New Braunfels is 32 miles up 35 from San Antonio. It seems to be a nice town. I just stopped by to meet Richard. I didn't stay to camp but met a few people who were happy with the accommodations available.

Andy,
I live here in New Braunfels,Tx and their are several parks around the area. I had talk to Paul L. a couple of days ago and he told me you were moving here and needed a park to park. I sent you a e-mail and am waiting. I told Paul you could come on down and stay at my place for a week or so and choose where you want to be. let me know.
Richard

Andy, Isent you another e-mail. Did you get it?
Richard
No Richard I have not :-\
We stayed in the Cowboy Capital, just west of San Antonio. Bandera is a Nice little town. there's a nice campground just North of town. Friendly and nice. and donkeys, deer, creek walk, a nice happy hour at 4pm.
Hi Andy,we have stayed at a campgrounds in Bandera a few times,it is right in town, 1/2 block to everything.I can not think of the name of the place right off the top of my head but could look it up in my log. Have not been there for 2 or 3 years now but it was a decent place the last time we were there and not a bad price either,as I remember.
Andy, Do you want to be close to your work or just in the N.E.part of town?
Richard
Richard could you call me @ 406-853-2022 Thanks Andy
