Title: Any tips for replacing water pump o-ring on Series 60?
Post by: belfert on January 09, 2011, 02:40:35 PM
In 2007 I replaced the water pump on my Series 60 with a Reliabilt one from the local Detroit dealer.  I must have done something wrong with the o-ring as it is leaking increasing amounts of oil around the pump.  Joel at the Choo-Choo Express garage recently confirmed it is the o-ring around the pump.  (I replaced the pump since I was replacing the radiator anyhow.)

Is there is a special trick to installing the water pump on a Series 60 to avoid damaging the o-ring and casuing a leak?  It is going to be a complete pain to remove and replace the water pump for a simple o-ring.  It was significantly easier with the radiator out.

I had the same problem on my 8-92N (and still do) The old o-ring was a lot wider then the new one. Still have a LARGE DRIP.

Will tackle it again in the spring.  Good luck!
