Title: MC-6 owners
Post by: Seayfam on January 09, 2011, 01:49:00 PM
Hi all
Just wondering if there are any other mc-6 owners on this board?
I have a mc6 and would like to be able to talk with other owners and get ideas on different things. Also ideas where to get trim parts and anything else that might come up in the future. I do know of a couple on BNO but that's all I know.
Thanks
Gary

Looks like I might be all alone here.
How about someone that has owned one or maybe knows someone that has one.
Or even knows where there is a parts one for sale (never know when one might need parts)
But that is probably a shot in the dark. All stainless they probably don't get scrapped unless Wrecked.
Thanks
Gary

Gary, I thought I had read on this forum about some guy some where, that had several MCI6s but he was a bit of a rogue to deal with.  But it could also be my imagination run wild.

Gary, do a search in titles for MCI6, and a member named Hartley posted that Daltons in ??? Tennessee has a bunch is various states of disrepair.  He states that the owners are difficult to deal with and do not return calls, other than that they are good citizens.

Thanks I'll have to look into that. If I'm going to be in this for the long haul
I'd like to buy a spare for parts. I talked with the greyhound museum via e-mail
And it sounds like they are having a hard time getting one.

Gary, they are talking about Charles Dalton, in Baxter, TN, near Cookville or Crossville, I forget which.
I did not find Mr Dalton at all hard to deal with, however I was there with a specific interest.
The father is Charles, I did not meet the son and do not remember his name.
I have not seen him in about three years.
He had at that time 25 MC-6's.
The number I have for him is 931-8 three eight, 4363.

Mr Dave Hartley, referenced above passed away last year.  He lived close to the Daltons.

Hope that helps.
Jack
PS...if you happen to go up there please let me know.

Jack,
That is a huge help! I'll try and get in touch with them and see what I can work out. If they are willing to sell one for parts I'll pm you. I probably won't be able to do much until spring cause I live in Alaska.
If a chance I can get one, I'm driving the bus down to Idaho this spring and I have access to a truck and lowboy there at my other house. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks
Gary

FWIW my friend Harlin Richards has a seated MCI 6 with the 12v71 and a Greyhound trailer towed in Canada for freight behind the bus he has been restoring it for years to use for shows

good luck

Gary,

I know there is one in my area here in PA, as I have seen it at a Shop in Lewisberry, PA.  It may be Matt Rutowski's bus, but I'm not sure.

Phone number for the Dalton's is 931 858 4363. They have several MCI 6's, many other old buses and RTS buses. Charles is the son and James is his Dad. They have always treated me fair. I have purchased several parts from them over the past 20 years.

Thanks Ken
When I can pry myself off this computer I'll give them a call.
Lately I've been on this thing too much ( does this make me a nut?) ;D

Jack, i was thinking at the  rally that i havent ever seen a MC-6 there and there were no Scenic Cruisers (stock ones or closer than the red rocket!) Maybe you can coax him to Arcadia. What was the  shop name in Lewisberry Steve? I will have to look that up as i dont have a go to shop anymore.

DMoedave,

The place is not a bus repair place that I know of.  I think they work on auto electrical stuff.

Not sure but I think the only ones that came with the tags covered are the two proto types.
Maybe he should contact the greyhound museum. It sounded like they where looking for one.
If his is a proto type it might be worth a small fortune.
Mabe somebody that knows for sure will chime in. I myself have been trying to find the two proto types
Just to see pics and talk to the owners.
