Title: Prevost for sale
Post by: edroelle on January 06, 2011, 05:39:13 PM
What am I overlooking?  I don't know anything more than what is on Ebay.

This 40' 1999 Prevost with a Series 60 has not gotten a bid after being on Ebay 3 times.
$17,000.    I would have thought it would have sold for quite a bit more in that it would be a great start for a conversion.

dont think you are missing anything. i agree it would be a great bus. just not enough people wanting to spend 17 k right now and you can conversions already done for about that or less. here is an example.

Granted they are not prevost but still converted and ready

I wonder what the customs fees would be? I imported one thing from Canada and vowed never again.

i also see this one that is a prevost for only 1k more. makes since to me to avoid some of the headache and cost of buying things like the genny and tanks and all the other stuff needed to do a conversion.

Just like houses, it's a buyers market.
It can't stay this way forever. "or can it"?

In my opinion it would be rust suspect especially rear engine frame rails and last bay frame work. Also the prob minimum 2 to 3 grand it would take to get to States. If I'm not mistaking there was a 35,000 bid and they did not sell it awhile back.Maybe some of our Canadian friends can enlighten us.

As mentioned previously ex-GO transit. No paperwork for the rebuilds. I bought an Ex-GO MCI 4 years ago (rebuilt with no papers) and
ended up at DD shop about 1000 miles in to trip and 2500 miles from home.  Was a stripped blower drive. Whoever had rebuilt it had added lock washers
to the blower drive bolts which eventually stripped the gears as there was no clearance. A friend of mine got one just before I did and he made it 2500 miles before he had engine problems.....

No washroom ruins the resale potential for these former commuter coaches.

IIRC, these have disc brakes, they stop on a dime.

Yes, I remember the lock washer debacle... ruined a bunch of engines still in the fleet.

happy coaching!
