Post by: luvrbus on January 05, 2011, 05:31:46 PM
? is can you install the tall windshields in a Prevost XL series and do away with the 2 small top glasses, I am looking at one the guy hit a low bridge and destroyed the top above the windshields it has wrinkles in the roof from the impact the insurance co totaled it

Those tall windshields were introduced in 2000 when the XLII came along

Yes you can.  Excalibur Coach does it, here's a couple of links -

Not cheap either.  Maybe you can give them a call and pick their brains about the process.

There was a retrofit kit for the H3 45 for updating to do away with the cross piece.

I don't know about the XL?

happy coaching!

I ask prevost once when I had to buy the two upper glasses (they are time and half more than the lower) they said no.That said; why not? you have to rebuild upper frame anyway.

Don't think so Clifford.  The XL and XLII are way different.  Best to rebuild without the upper glass. I think they look better blocked off anyway, and eliminate leaks.  JMHO

Here's a link to a company that claims they can do that. http://prevostupgrades.com/ (http://prevostupgrades.com/)
I know nothing else about the company. Gerry H

I passed the deal on to another bus guy here on the board he seems to think he can jack the wringles out of the bay and roof and replace the cap he got a buy I could have sold the Aqua Hot,generator and inverters maybe for what the bus cost if it was a series 60 and B500 I would have kept it

good luck

Why would you want to?!?! The double window makes it look like an old school splitty VW bus.
I guess we all have our tastes. :)

A signature of the older Marathon XLV conversions is they would leave the upper glass in the front cap, all 4 pieces, the 2 front and the 2 side pieces, smoked glass.

Very nice. Always shiny never paint chips very easy to keep clean much more durable than painted fiberglass.
