Title: Best route to Arcadia from I-75?
Post by: belfert on December 28, 2010, 07:28:12 PM
I should have asked long ago, but what is the best route from I-75 (In Wildwood now) to Arcadia?  Google maps has three different routes.  One is taking I-75 way south and I won't do that one.  Mapquest says to take US 98 to US 17 to Arcadia.

I would like to avoid two lane highways if possible.

If your not doing 75 south, then you won't be able to avoid 2 lane. If you go 98 to 17 it's all good road and straight thru. Some small towns with lights but nothing bad.Once you approach Arcadia on 17, look for large green sign that says Turner center. Turn left and follow to the stop light. Turn left again and center in on your left. You can see it just as you approach the stop light to your left.

If your in wildwood, your 1-1.25 hours from lakeland (in a bus) and 1.25-1.5 hours from lakeland to arcadia.

I took I-75 to FL 70.  70 is two lane most of the way, but it was good and I had no problems with it.

If it were me I'd do I-75 to 70 as Mike suggested!

Least traffic and stop lights/signs is to stay on I-75 to SR 70 at Bradenton (Exit 217) Left on SR 70 to Arcadia. Go almost all the way through Arcadia to Turner Road. Left on Turner Road to 1st stoplight (at the High School). Left at the stoplight, you will see Turner enteron your left. When you nget into Arcadia, just watch for the bus rally signs.  Jack
