OK....I listed my Jake Brake on the Spare Tire......I also put in pictures of the parts.
It has been listed for several days and no activity (other than looking at the pictures). Before listing it I checked other MAK posts reference the cost of the brake. I listed this one for $800, which appeared to be a far price from what I saw on earlier posts.
Those of you familiar with current cost of the Jake system, am I out of line, and should I lower the price? I don't want to "take" anyone, and of course I don't want to be taken. Looking for what should be a far price for both seller and buyer. Looking for input on a fair price.
Thanks,
Chris
I'd think for that price, they should be freshly rebuilt.
The crossover tubes shouldn't be reused, so the buyer will have to add the cost of those to complete the install. . . . .
Just my opinion. . .
Hi Chris
If you don't happen to sell as a whole, I'd be interested in just the Fast idle and buffer switch setup. I have a 6V92 (I assume it would be the same)which someone did away with the fast idle cylinder and replaced with just normal Jake switch. I'd like to get fast idle back, but cannot find the mechanism at a reasonable price here in Australia.

Chris, sell the fast idle buffer switch 1/2 price if it works is around 300+ the new style buffer you have are 185 bucks new, fuel lines are worth nothing valve covers are about 100 buck used and with the housings being marked 71 they don't bring much the prefered is 71/92A and the bridges won't work for 92 series only a 71,if you can get 4 or 500 bucks for the set less the fast idle buffer you did good ? 24 or 12 volt
good luck
Thanks to Kyle and luvrbus for both of you inputs. I appreciate it and value it.
I will be going back in making some adjustment to the post.
Aussiecoach you may want to look at the post again to see if you have interest.
Chris
I am very interested but have many questions
Can anyone confirm if this fast idle and buffer switch setup will work for my 6V92T?
Also is the fast idle and buffer switch setup all there so all I need to do is get the airline connected? (my air line and fast idle dash switch is still in place and seem to function
Does anyone have a picture of how these are mounted, I don't seem to have any brackets in that area
Unfortunately I only have the buffer switch so have no idea what parts I am looking at on the pictures.
Lastly, are the parts small enough to go in a padded post bag for shipping Down under?
Thanx
Glen
In looking at the photos, I'm not seeing a fast idle buffer switch. In the lower right hand corner of the second photo, I see 2 buffer switches and an original fast idle air cylinder.
The fast idle buffer switch combines these 2 into 1 unit, like in the attached photo.
Perhaps Chris left it out when he took the photos? Or am I just going blind? :)
Bob
Thanx so much for the picture Bob.
I was wondering how the fast idle cylinder and jake switch coupled together from the doovers I saw in the pictures.
Bob is there any brackets holding the fast idle jake switch assembly in place or just the buffer screw attachment to the governor?
Thanx
Glen
Glen,
Yes, there is a bracket that fits around the air cylinder and bolts to the front of the blower housing. Not shown in the photo.
Go to this link: http://www.jakebrake.com/service/pdf2/003879.pdf (http://www.jakebrake.com/service/pdf2/003879.pdf) and scroll down to page 10. Figure 44 shows a drawing of the switch with the bracket. Figure 46 is a grainy picture of the switch installed with the bracket. It's basically just a large wire clamp attached to a flat bar. Easy enough to fabricate.
